  1. I'd get it done professionally mate, I think Lucas Services (LUK) are well priced for A/C work
  2. its no so much the cost of the paint, its the labour on the prep work thats the killer, would look good though, only thing is it would make your engine look filthy haha. you could possibly get the same effect for alot cheaper with vinyl? maybe....?
  3. http://www.chromapart.co.uk/mirrachrome.htm thats the site i found when i was trying to get a price
  4. You wouldnt be able to chrome the bay really as it would require a complete strip and a massive amount of work, you can get a special paint that gives a perfect mirror finish, which bmw and volvo have used in TV adverts, it looks awesome but iirc it was something mental like £200 for 500ml and needed several coats and a completly blemish free surface to spray onto or the effect gets ruined. You would probably be looking at over £2000 just for the prep work labour costs and spraying
  5. I never launch, they fly off the lights first, I just pull away and nail it, I find they look more dissapointed like that as I didnt even try. Suprising the amount of people that have never heard of a VR6 or know what it is (especially when they are supercharged! ho ho ho!), they just think they are GTI's?

    Top Gear

new series in a few weeks, remember those cars they turned into boats? We this time they use them to cross the channel!
  7. Thats the ones, Dont put anything back on you take off basically, replacing the lot isnt much and it saves doing it again when the possibly fail the next MOT ps the day b4 u start taking it all apart, drown the top mount nuts in WD40, they can be a bitch if they are corroded and you can easily round off the hex slot in the top
  8. For the price of a new V9 setup in the states at the mo due to the dollar being crap, id just go for a new set up, mine arrived a few weeks ago and didnt pay much more than what 2nd hand set ups are going for, its worth that little extra cash just to have a spanking new kit and warranty
  9. The detergents in oil, like fully syth, can actually clean away gunk that is sealing leaks on higher milage engines, causing it to leak like a sieve, Id stick to what VW spec, synta ot the equivilant like fuchs
  10. Ive got 8mm magnecors on the way , id rather pay the £££ for them rather than standard ones as they have a 10 year warranty and I begrudge giving money to main stealers unless i have no other option haha
  11. VAG COM it, you could hunt for a problem for days and not find it
  12. Id get it regassed and serviced. You need to run a/c for 30 mins or so every month just to keep it maintained and the seals in good condition, or they dry out and start to leak
  13. it will need topping up like any fluids in an engine
  14. I used to work for a motor parts company and most stuff these days that gsf would sell are made by the same companies as the OE version, some things from gsf are a little lame, HT leads can be abit 2nd rate, but once the garages they supply to tell them they are shite they would soon bin that item off and get a new version somewhere else, my local gsf are pretty good and if an item is crap they will advise you to get another version with the coolant, use VW G12+ , gsf stock it and its only about £7, it is compatible with other coolants so you wont risk 2 different types of coolant reacting wi
  15. Ive got something like that, it fitted into the little plastic grille in the bumper, I thought it was the outside temp sensor
  16. Ive got a wedding in a field in a fortnight and im refusing to drive now!
  17. Ive heard of them, they seem good, theyre fully self contained with its own oil system (reservior, pump and cooler) that will probably push the price up a bit. Only problem i could see is that compared to vortech and z-eng, which if you ask a question you get instant replies on this forum, I would imagine with rotrex you wont, just a thought these guys could help you if you havnt spoke to them already http://www.stormdevelopments.co.uk/rotrex.html
  18. mine was £15 from ebay and fits perfectly, just the luck of the draw probably
  19. cheap alloys will look cheap aswel when anywhere near quality ones
  20. fuchs xtr 10-40 is the same as synta silver, which is what alot of gsf store stock now instead of synta
