  1. Ive just fitted a low temp stat, 50/50 mix of water/g12+, and fresh oil and was well impressed on how much that kept temps down, even from when it was standard, well worth doing for the few quid it costs to do! Oil cooler goes on this weekend. I was also considering a lancia integrale style bonnet vent as it was nice and simple looking
  2. Its basically a valve for the engine oil gases to get recycled back into the system I think. When I fitted my supercharger I took mine off and just have a pipe running from there to the charger intake pipe. They are cheap from ford, but take the old one with you to match up as there are 2 differently shaped versions. I got a quote from VW and they charge & times more than Ford!!! Worth doing asap just incase as its connected to the vacuum pipes it might start causing running problem
  3. BP ultimate is packed with detergents and will properly dredge everything out on a run when everything heats up, I noticed similar symptoms when I 1st started using it, but it stopped after a while, now its the only fuel I use, I swear fuel economy is better aswel on a run, not so much in town but theres defo a few gains to be had.. Like you say, keep an eye on it, but it probably is the Ultimate

  6. save a piece of the vr, like the gear stick with the knob on the end, once everything is sorted and done with hunt him down and batter him with the gear stick hahaha
  7. Got my mocal kit coming next week and was wondering where everyone has place the actual cooler? Im thinking behind the passenger side vent in the front bumper, but it would be good to know where you lot have them cheers
  8. Im gonna get one of theses, similar to a portercable, but anything that wasnt that good on a PC they re designed for this, its also available in 240v and we get 10% discount http://www.thepolishingcompany.com/ultimatedetailia.html

    Turbo!!!

turbo wise check out AUDSPEED they also have an ebay shop and are based in canada and KINETIC, both are very helpful and have alot of experience. Just the 2 ive come across in the past, like kevhaywire says tho its the mani thats the tough part to get hold of over here. always use forums though for research as they are the people who have actually done it and lived with it and not just trying to take your cash
  11. Performace vw magasine etc, free ads, auto mart, fish4 They cant pay out what you paid for the car, they have to pay out enough to get a car of similar age, condition, spec etc but OE spec only, unless extra mods insured specifically, most policies hide this in the small print, you declare thousands of quids worth of mods, they add to the cost of your insurance but arent even covered! so if for example you have a p plate vr highline worth in as new condition that would be worth say £4500, but with £10000 of extras, you only get what the car is worth and they do use parkers guide to judge it,
  12. before picking any paint you should see it in the the day light on a car and then have ago at photoshopping a pic of your car to match that colour. Sounds weird but some colours dont suit some shapes of car and some really make the car!!

    Turbo!!!

All depends on what you want the car for when you go F/I, I chose a charger as Its easy to fit, requires no internal engine mods and kicks out less heat, Im confident doing most things on my car but draw the line at the engine internals and I didnt want to pay out for someone else to do it, plus with my car being a daily driver a charger ticked all the boxes for me, bot have pro's and con's over each other, worth doing loads of research on both, the deciding PS charging is alot less than £3000, ive just fitted my VF-eng kit that once I pay for the re-map will have cost me £2300 for everythin

  15. sunday afternoon stroll around car dealerships?
  16. Push for the highest price you can, then what I did in the past was bought the car back for pennies as salvage and fixed it with the insurance payout, all depends on the amount of damage though but worth thinking about search for similar cars that are for sale at the price you want from the claim, print/ cut them out and keep them as proof they can fetch that much and remember they will not want to give you top money for it, so you'll have to stick to your guns! also it sounds stupid but fully clean and polish the car inside and out along with anything else thatll push the price up, before the
  17. Hi all, is there a specific cooler kit for vr's with A/C due to all the extra piping in the way? Ive been offered a mocal 13row with sandwich plate and thermostat for a good price, but just need to know if itll fit easily enough as ive heard they need a certain kit if I have A/C cheers
  18. Its not a highline, but as craggsy says they arent the highest spec, mine is also better spec than a highline, on my log book im only missing on optional extra (climatronic) but I have A/C so Im not bothered, cheaper insurance too
  19. sounds like the motor i on its way out if the switch is ok, might be worth checking any relays on that circuit before dismantling the door though
  20. To be honest no hand applied polish will do a decent job on swirl marks, it'll just fill them spotted about SRP aswell, it has got abrasives in it, as does ultra deep shine, but less. EGP is the one that has no abrasives and if you were to start layering, SRP for light colour cars, Ultra deep shine for dark cars, the layer up the EGP and carnuba, Ive done my mystik blue vr and my sis black mica scooby today and the both look resprayed using those products
  21. Ive tried it mate, they look rubbish i think, white isnt bad, but shadowed/black chrome looks really good I would do the photoshop for you but ive only got a basic program so it wont come out properly
  22. ive got a VF front one and am impressed with it, spotted that the rear one is shot today whilst swapping thermostats so Ill have to get the rear mount aswel
