  1. cat bypass/ decat is just replacing the cat with a piece if pipe, you can pass MOT without a cat, BUT only if your car passes emmissions without it. I didnt know powerflow did cats? worth a look I was toying with the idea of getting a cat made with a true bypass pipe with a butterfly valve on it, so it would be cat-less until MOT time when Id turn a nut and divert the flow thru the CAT
  2. http://www.sportcats.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=2_104_106_109&products_id=628&osCsid=42bff3a70ebe12e72f0fd7b1b9929785 sports cat £230...bargain! True what RCF said, You'll get used to taking the front bumper off with a charger, its worse aswel if you lower the car, I take mine off to get decent access to change the oil filter! Little bit annoying but it give you a chance to nose around the engine bay and spot probs early Just though, if your cat is smelling it may be over fuelling like mine is at the moment as my timing is out until I get it mapped next week at Stealth
  3. I was looking at their site the other day, Ill have to mail them aswel then, thought they only did landrover gear
  4. oil feed line is the one ontop of the charger, disconnect it and just quickly get someone to start the engine, only for a second, just to check that hose squirts oil (into a rag or something) for your MAF its easier just to take off your front bumper to get a decent look, when the charger was fitted the MAF cable extension was fitted, just check they are still joined and solder the connections if they arent already, but as it was fitted by stealth they probably will be. You might aswel get it on VAGCOM first as that point you in the right direction PS stage 2 is reasonably cheap, bosch red to
  5. Clean them properly with a proper wheel cleaner, rough then up with scotch pads/wet and dry, then a wipe over with panel wipe to get rid of and dust or silicone residue etc, spray with an acid etch primer, then the colour coat.
  6. I was the same, I had a 150 mile drive home and kept thinking when I arrived home how quick I got there, then realised Id done a full tank of petrol haha I still look forward to the drive home from work all day and I had it 12months
  7. Mine stayed on in the wet when the chaffed cable got wet, when it was dry it was fine
  8. I had a chaffed cable that caused that intermittantly
  9. Thats the z-eng kit i was looking at, looks nice, add some more heat proofing to the underside and an insulating inlet gasket and that might sort me out. Its the same price roughly as a schrick mani [mod edit resize pic] Moderator edit by: cadguy
  10. That was the other setup I was interested in just coz it looks so good! Havnt got round to mailing them yet about a price for the cooler setup on its own
  11. Right, they are Votex roof bars. as new in box, never used, with instructions and rubbers and tool kit. Open to offers
  12. Looks well smart! How much work is it to relocate your battery to the boot?
  13. http://www.vr6oc.com/page.php?32 that might be helpful
  14. Early OBD1 engine, then its just a case of what optional extras it has really
  15. I looked at the schimmel stuff, looks real good for turbos, but seemed abit awkward for a charger as you'd have to do a whole lap of the engine with induction tubes and the price was very high considering I wont be going much more that 8-10psi I could get away with less
  16. Im going to be changing the oil (vw synta silver)every 3000 miles and at the same time you have to check the oil feed line is clear and clean. What cooling do you have? If you havnt got it get a low temp stat and an oil cooler. Fresh oil will also make a big difference, mine was instantly noticable and cooler with fresh lube in it
  17. A valve that runs the the intake pipe just before the throttle body and is also connected to the vacuum pipe on the intake manifold, they always break. Ford do them the cheapest, about £25 compared to VW £90
  18. Started looking into my options, so far my favs are the Z-engineering kit but that is massivly expensive (£1200) as it incorporates an inlet mani, looks the nuts, but, the chargecooler is right above the exhaust mani? bit silly.... The other is http://www.advancedvehicletuning.co.uk/catalog/index.php?cPath=21&osCsid=188f78636baa753f0aa441fc9193b834 looks decent and not a bad price and looks likek it replaces the induction pipe between the charger and TB If anyone has any other ideas/suggetions let me know, it would be appreciated as there doesnt seem to be that many set ups around, Ive o
  19. Ive got a set that came with my car if your interested? Theyre proper VW i think, just sat in my garage taking up room, Ill have a look at them tomorrow and see what condition theyre in as ive never even looked, just put them in their box in the garage the second i got home from buying the car
  20. the pipe from the rocker fits to the standard intake pipe and normally has a valve on it that is connected to the other little tube with the bolt in it. Its basically an engine breather that puffs gases back into the inlet. If you want a new pipe with the valve and that get it from Ford as its about £25, but from VW they want £90!
  21. pointing toward throttle body i think, but worth checking maf wires and all pipes and cabling etc, you might have just knocked something off when fitting your ind kit
  22. Id check the wiring 1st if you think youve crushed it. Have a look at this post, might steer u in the right direction http://forums.clublupo.co.uk/lofiversion/index.php?t32450.html
  23. id report it! you might get a free years cover or something?
