Definitely in the thousands I expect..
  2. Hi Does anyone here have their car lowered 30mm? I'm thinking about getting mine lowered but can't decide between 30mm H&R lowering springs plus koni shocks (total cost
  3. Hi I'm not sure on the standard size 15" bbs alloy but I have seen these bbs alloy wheels for sale: VW GOLF `BBS RS796 ` ALLOY WHEELS 6X15 98-05 SIZE IS 6 X 15 ET38 5 X 100 Will they fit my vr without any problems with a 205 tyre width? Thanks for any info. Matt
  4. Hi I've seen some nice wheels for sale. They look good but will they fit my golf mk3 vr6? They are 15" split rims but I want to continue using 205 tyre width. Is their width of 6" too small? By the way I know very little about ET offsets and actual alloy width. From what I know I think the alloy width on a standard 15" bbs vr6 alloy is 7.5" (is this correct or are they 6.5"?)... not sure what the et offset is though. If I go up to 16" on alloys (still with a 205 tyre width) what offset and alloy width would I need... and same if I go for 17" alloys? Here is the alloy name and size: VW GOLF
  5. As mentioned above there are quite a few differences. Apparently according to Stealth Racing a good vr tuning company they say the ODB2 vr6 golfs have on average 185bhp compared to the 174 for an ODB1. This is what they told me... you can remap the ODB1 vr to produce the same power as an ODB2 (an increase of around 10bhp)... Stealth and AMD tuners will do this...cost is approximately
  6. I'm looking for different alloys... what do Solitudes look like?
  7. Hi I'm looking to upgrade my standard 15" bbs alloys on my golf vr6 with bigger 16 or 17" alloys. I still want to keep the multispoke style that the bbs has as I think it really suits the golf vr. Does anyone know of a good and ideally very cheap but reputable source for new or second hand bbs style alloy and tyre deals? And what size offset (ET) do I need to look out for as I'm not sure what the offset actually means... for example if it is ET25 would this mean it is closer to the brake disk or closer to the inside of the wheel arch compared to ET35? I assume 7.5" is the 'width' alloy siz
  8. I'm also interested in what the ET offset actually means? Does ET25 mean it will be closer to the brake disk or stick out more towards the wheel arch than an ET offset of 35?
  9. Tracking mate... my car had exactly the same problem..vibrated above a certain speed. Got the tracking and balancing done and the problem was sorted! It is always recommended by experts that you always need 4 wheel alignment done when fitting any new suspension.
  10. Yeah you're right... I do assume it will be harder and definitely stiffer in some respect (but there is "harder" and then there's very hard...my last car had lowered suspension by just an inch but was bl**dy awful) but I want it to be stiffer and much more controllable round corners without being too bouncy yet to still be relatively comfortable without loosing any teeth. Anything that comes close to the suspension of a civic type r would be nice! (a bit too hopeful!) So if 30mm H&R lowering springs and Koni shocks (I assume these will not be adjustable damping) are better than Highsport
  11. Yeah the CR7's look very good in your pics. I thought the wheels in the pics were the TSW venoms. Do you have any pics of the TSWs? Was it a straight forward job fitting the CR7's... did the calipers fit underneath the alloys ok and how much did the garage charge to roll your arches? Is CR7 the full name of the wheel or does it have a manufacturer name too? Looks like coilover suspension you have there... what type do you have? I guess with 235 tyre width you must get loads of grip in the dry! At some point I'm going to have to get me self some nice wheels like that to go with the new s
  12. The vr6 isn't too heavy at 1180kgs when you compare it to other hot hatches... for example S3's (4 wheel drive but close to 1400kgs) and Civics etc. Civic Type R's weigh exactly the same at 1180kgs and with a lightly modified vr you have approx the same power/performance. S3 does 0-60 in 6.8 and the Civic the same. I find my car (with just under 200bhp...with only an exhaust) is far far quicker than the average car on the road and no doubt (in the right road conditions could do a similar time to the latter two cars). But the big difference is it can cruise so effortlessly and smoothly. An
  13. Very nice car. What tyre width are your 17" TSW Venoms...205 or 215? I assume it's 40 profile? They look like split rims from the side on...really deep. Suit the car perfectly. How much did you pay for your wheels (with tyres)? Also how much has your car been lowered by?
  14. Would FK Highsport coilovers be better than separate 30mm lowering springs and uprated shocks for example Koni shocks and H&R springs? The FK Highsport coilovers are height adjustable only with fixed damper rates. Stealth have quoted me
  15. If the car is lowered say 40mm on the fk Highsport fixed damper coilovers would the ride be roughly the same as standard or extremely hard? There was a mention above that the Highsport are much 'bouncier' than the Konigsport which I guess means the cornering will be far less stable. I'm considering fk Konigsport as the ones to go for as once the choice has been made that's it... and for just
  16. Thanks for your help guys. Looks like Konigsport are the better ones to go for and I assume they will last quite a few years..will the FK (Highsport or Konigsport) coilovers last much longer than standard shocks and springs? So are Highsport much better than standard suspension or just a little bit...whereas the Konigsport are far better? In what way are they much better than Highsport ones? I've had a look at the Venom Motorsport site and they offer the FK Konigsport coilovers for
  17. Hi Are FK Highsport Coilover Kits good quality and do they give a very harsh hard ride or very comfortable ride... Ideally I want the comfort to be virtually the same as standard but obviously have my car with a much lower stance and much much less body roll when going round corners. FK also do Konigsport which are very good and fully adjustable but these are a bit too expensive so am interested in finding out more about the FK Highsport coilovers. Does anyone have highsport ones and in what way are they adjustable - is it just the ride height and if so how easy is it to adjust the height? I
  18. Still a great looking car. What exhaust / front splitter do you have?
  19. What exhaust do you have? Looks very nice... it looks similar to my Milltek. How much or where did you buy that colour coded front splitter/spoiler? Was it already colour coded or did you have to spray it? Stunning car. Do you have any engine mods too?
  20. How much would the BBS RX (with tyre package) cost on average at a dealer? They are very nice.
  21. Has anyone had their car lowered 30mm on standard 15" alloys to be able to tell me what it will look like? Any pics? Thanks for any info.

  23. All late VR6's whether Highline or not have no plastic wheel arches. Only the earlier model vr6's have them on. However highlines don't have any plastic side skirts. Therefore you would really need to get some plastic side skirts fitted too otherwise the arches may look out of place. Ideally you ought to get a good paint sprayer to actually "merge" the plastic arches into the bodywork with filler and then spray them.. it will make your car look quite good I can imagine, rather wide bodied making it quite unique..but it will cost more and again the side skirts will need colour coding too. On
  24. I have a similar faint mark which I can't seem to get out... caused by bl**dy bird sh*t. If I ever see even a small bit on my car I wash it off asap. For some reason our paint work seems to be more vulnerable than most cars...or it just shows up imperfections more. The only thing I can suggest is T-cut (try it several times over and wait till dry to see if it makes a difference) or if that really doesn't work the last resort is paint compound... which as you may know is similar to t-cut just a bit more abrasive (and actually used in the paint respraying process which is used to smooth and po
  25. Cheers for your replies. I like your wheels Pittuf ...what type are they and how much?! They look like split rims from this angle...are they 17inch? Do you have any side view pics?
