  1. Go back and read the original post ...... he wanted a magnetic sump bung, now correct me if i'm wrong but the sump is the bottom of the engine, and as you are obviously well clued up you'll know that the engine oil is filtered by what is commonly known as a oil filter. S**T sorry mate had the the bit about the gearbox on my mind 8-),Im such a thick F**K sometimes! Looking back at my original post it sounds like im being funny about it, didnt mean for it to come across that way fella Sorry :$ No worries i feel a bit of a twat about bickering over something so trivial so i'm sorry aswel

    MPG

Dude you are not driving it right ! :-) lol. My average sits at 23MPG but if I am on a long steady run somewhere then I do see just over 30MPG which I am fairly happy with hehhe Mark. Trust me mate she gets nailed, however i put the good MPG down to regular oil changes(Castrol GTX magnatec) and also using good superunleaded fuel, i know that its more expensive but i'm sure that its far more efficient. MPG

Well i frequently see 30 mpg the most ive ever had is 34mpg. Mine isn't that thirsty really.
  5. The advantages of this are basically if there are little pieces of metal in your oil they will stick to the magnet but that is why you've got a oil filter, and i think that you'll find the gearbox will have a magnet in it already. So basically what i'm saying is don't bother.
  6. i love your wheels mate, i'm running with standard bbs at the mo, i think those are the only other wheels that i'd go for, what exact model are they ??
  7. mate your car looks bloody lovely, i would love mine to look that good.
  8. don't bother with the hassle of painting mate. get them powder coated, you'll get a far better finish. I had mine doe and they look better than new and just wipe clean. Powder coating is awesome
  9. If you don't know what you are doing mate i'd get someone that does, if not get youself a bently manual.
  10. fuck all, just stick with a standard one unless you are going down the forced induction route.
  11. Chopper on road safety, this one is probably more appropriate for this forum.
  12. Chopper rules If you haven't seen it go and buy the DVD, awesome film.
  13. i will mate, if you start to feel like the VR must go make sure you post a thread and i'll try and talk you round. VR6OC is like a support group for VR junkies
  14. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY !!! ive got Snooper and various friends have Road angels, if you pick up laser you've had it anyway, and most people know where the static cameras are in there area, if you don't they post the posistions on the internet free anyway. Both myself and people i know with detectors have driven past camera vans with no alert, This is either because the vans have new technology or that the camera wasn't on but just seems a bit of a coincidence that its happened to alot of us with different devices i.e Snooper and Road angels, so i wouldn't be suprised if they have new technology
  15. they don't have chokes its the ECU doing the same thing tho.
  16. I think that yesterday i was suffering from some momentry madness and decided to sell the VR. I have since done some investigating as some of you may have seen and found that exchange engines for VR's are bloody resonable. What i'm gonna do is run this engine until it dies and then swap her for a new one!!! Shes only on 92000 miles and i only use her at weekends so i reakon she'll go for a while yet. With engine prices this bloody reasonable what is the point in bunging £500 on getting the chains done when you can spend a little more and get a new bloody engine!!! i think that i'd go for the
  17. Thats what i was thinking after my post about selling the VR yesterday i'm having second thoughts, with exchange engine prices this bloody cheap i might just run this engine into the ground and then swap it for a 2.9 engine. Steve i have made my mind up i'm keeping the VR, i think that i was obviously suffering momentary madness.
  18. i enquired to these guys about exchange engines and got this e-mail back, thought it maybe of interest to some of you, after seeing some of the quotes people have had for timing chains for this price you might aswell just get an exchange engine with guarentee. Dave Thank you for your recent enquiry for an engine for a VW Golf VR6 2.8 or 2.9 litre 1996 We can supply a fully remanufactured, service exchange complete tested engine for this vehicle at £1295.00 + Vat.
