Hopefully it will work, what sort of gains do you think that the manifold and larger TB will make ???

I was discussing this topic with a friend of mine who is a motorsport engineer, he basically one of those guys that can design formula one cars from scratch. When i asked him about this manifold idea, he just said that to design that manifold for VW probably took someone as qualified as him 6 months with extensive testing and calculation taking every aspect of airflow into consideration and if it was as easy as chopping the insides out and welding a plate on top do i really think that they would have bothered with the hassle and the massive cost associated with the design. I thought about wha

Already been asked mate about 3 weeks ago, just type it in the search mate. The findings of this post were; Basically they will do about 140 standard and maybe 150 charged. If your speedo reads more its inaccurate. That'll save you the hassle of looking if you can't be bothered. Hope this helps. Dave

i always use gtx magnatec and mine drinks a fair bit of oil, i just check mine every other week. It nothing unusual though, if you look in the manual it even says in there that it can use a litre per 1000 miles. Dave

i seem to remember seeing a episode of top gear and they were talking about the new vauxhall astra i think it is called a vxr or something, anyway they were saying that it is mental having 250bhp through the front wheels and debating whether its safe or not. I was wondering whether some of you guys that have turbo's or chargers on your VR's have trouble using the power efficiently ???? or do you agree that 250bhp is the max power for front wheel drive cars??

800 does sound a bit steep using mk 4 head gasket increases compression ratio but don't expect alot of gain in power... 4-5 hp you won't even notice it. The main reason to use a mk 4 gasket is that its made from metal so is more durable and less likely to blow like the one you've got has .

KEEP YOUR VR !!! If you can't afford a new shape M3 don't bother, and if you can afford a new shape M3 you can also afford a R32 so get the R32. You have a tastfully modded VR with a supercharger, IMHO i don't think that you could ask for alot more. Dave

Is that mk2 r32 4WD or is it all through the front wheels?? i was just thinking that without 4WD it must be a nightmare to put that sort of power down?? I love the car it must be one of the only R32 mk2's in the world, have any of you guys been for a ride in it??? I've been i a new 911 turbo i can only imagine that the buzz is similar to that, and that was awesome. Dave

AddsVR6, Is your VR the charged one on Ebay??? Can i just ask why do you want to get rid of it ??? I think that it looks a awesome VR and i was just wondering what has put you off??? Dave

MkIV steel head gasket - good or bad mod on a mkIII vr golf?
dstyrrell replied to matth76's topic in Engine Tuning
Hi Mate, I did some investigating on this very subject and on VWvortex alot of the guys on there have gone for the MK4 head gasket, the main advantage is that its metal and is more durable however as far as power gains go they rekon that you'll gain 4-5 BHP, in my opinion this amount of power gain isn't really worth the hassle, from what i've read i wouldn't waste your time on cams either just get yourself some forced induction which is the best way to gain good amounts of power and keep a nice drive. Yeah it definatly does, there was a horrific accident in my village where too young people died in a 20mph zone, speed related, it really did disturb me and still does sometimes, as i've said before there is a time and a place, its just about common sense really.

I just had a pandoras box moment, i knew that i didn't want to see that but i couldn't help but look. It was disgusting, and i now wish i hadn't seen it. Makes you think before you put you foot down though.

I have found though that the VR6 forum is by far one of the most friendly forums, that must be because VR6 drivers are a bloody nice bunch of people. I use some of the guitar forums on the internet and they can be bloody terrible. Dave
