  1. That's the oil squirters that dropped out they are £20 each and need to go back in buddy
  2. going a bit slow stacked out at work machinist is going to cut the top off next week had a few more thoughts anyone got a cad drawing of the vr6 manifold would be good to club together and get one laser scanned then share the data for me especially right now
  3. found a picture of the flap sounds a bit rude
  4. Had a good dig around and I am sorry to say its obd1
  5. considering splitting the manifold in two to create a separation between the 2 banks then having them linked externally with a flap in between
  6. lots of info great thanks anyone got a picture of the vsr/shrick plenum chamber flap setup
  7. thanks guys the info is great a bit over my head I think its going to be a long haul though so bear with me stage 1 get a stock manifold and cut it open separate 123 and 456 cylinders along the length of the manifold up to the throttle body then get an electric or vacuum flap to separate the two banks I am sure this is how the VSR works had a chat with my guru at work and he thinks it will operate fine because the firing order is 153642 only one cylinder is firing on each of the 2 banks at any one time
  8. it would be great to have a variable inlet manifold for 2 to 3 hundred quid
  9. been looking at making my own vsr manifold from a stock one. I work with a guy who has years of engine tuning and is a real boffin when it comes to tuning we have been looking at how exactly the vsr manifold works, mechanically. has anyone ever stripped the internal flap out of the schrick/vsr manifold for maintenance. or has any photos of how the flap functions internally. I have a feeling it splits the plenum chamber in 2 so you have 3 and 3 cylinders on each side when the flap is closed and the full width when open can anyone add to the topic even if they see pitfalls I don't wel
  10. are you still looking for a loom I will have a look this weekend if you are
  11. after a super charger system complete ready to bolt on
  12. why didn't I just change the chains and tensioners to obd2
  13. Tried the old ignition on trick it only came back after the car was started I have measured the sensor to sensor ring gap about 1.7mm too far away I would say going to fettle the gap down to 1mm
  14. Is the hesitation permanent or only after a long run
  15. Had the same problem along time ago there may be some crap in the tank when the pump starts up it gets sucked on to the fuel pump strainer which blocks the pump when the pump stops the crap falls back from the strainer into the recess in the tank so the cycle begins take the pump out and have a look with a torch into the tank without a fag in your gob if you smoke or the pump is not suitable and is overloaded
  16. Great idea thanks mate will try that, before I reset the code with the engine running and when I rescanned it, it came straight back. the engine runs really nice and quiet if you stab the throttle it hesitates a little the only fault showing is the one previously posted
  17. very nice indeed that is a late vr6 ecu in answer to your question I have changed both and fitted a new bosch cam sensor, and I have an obd1 engine with duplex chains. The double cam cog accepts the sensor ring perfectly and is lined up exactly the same as on the obd2 cam, I checked I have used the obd1 top cam housing and the clearance between the sensor and the sensor ring looks good so it should all work fine there is no difference between the obd1 and obd2 engine apart from the top timing chain and tensioners chain guide and upper timing cover I am using the obd2 throttle body, inj
  18. the ecu code is from vag com Control Module Part Number: 021 906 256 Component and/or Version: MOTRONIC M3.8.1 HS V04 I have fitted a new sensor after checking the wiring it still shows a fault 00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40) 29-00 - Short to Ground only thing left is the ecu
  19. Thanks guys I have now found one 81k £325
  20. I would like to do the 24v swop some time does it make a big difference
  21. Will do at the weekend mate VW have confirmed the sensor is correct I gave them my engine number to confirm it They must have done a trial on the mk3 before they put the system on the mk4
