  1. hi some wiring help please (not my strongest subject) on the loom which supplies the lambada probe / o2 sensor four of the wires go to a connecter which then is plugged into the o2 sensor my question is what is the 5th black wire for and connected to? mine is cut off and icant see any where it should be connected to is it an earth to chassis? :!
  2. vag com would show if the o2 sensor was knacked not the cat though
  3. i thought the car would stall if the isv was disconnected as the car has no way of sucking air in the throttle body butterfly valve is closed tight it sounds alot like an air intake leak on a pipe or gasket vag com for fault codes and check for intake leaks, the isv may also be a problem as stated a good clean with ashings brake cleaner spray did it for me
  4. happy birthday claire iwas 42 yesterday if it makes you feel better "42" the meaning of life the universe and everything
  5. i run a standard victor reinze gasket 14 psi of boost and it holds fine i had nothing but leaks with a metal gasket thats how its been for me low comp pistons though
  6. have the car diagnostic checked that should pinpoint the fault there are so many variables in a complex system its allways best to cut out the guess work and money spent on a hit and miss approach, where abouts in spain are you? i used to live near Malaga those were the days
  7. crank speed sensor is allways a favourite as mentioned vag com
  8. great post should save some money for a few members i didnt know you could repack the bearing learn something new everyday
  9. allways vag com the car to look for fault codes it takes 80% of the guess work out of fault finding then if there are no fault codes the fun starts, where are you based as there may be a club member near you who has vag com if you are near scarborough i would be more than happy to run a diagnostics check and supply the tea or coffee
  10. tensioner wheel bearing ? they normally make a squealing noise when the bearing is on its way out, as far as i know you have to change the whole tensioner as the plastic wheel and bearing are sold as one part ebay a mate this forum or good old VW parts department not sure how much though
  11. awesome job i could be asking you to do some intercooler piping for me soon
  12. sorry i hsve just run down and checked my spares box i have the rubber elbow that is connected to the ISV idle stabilisation valve, if thats the one you need i have a spare

  14. im not worthy !!! yet great meet gutted i missed it double time is double time
  15. thats cheap i know where i will be getting them from in the future
  16. o2 sensor? the ecu should keep the mixture correct even if you are using a 4 bar FPR.the 4 bar fpr will affect response not how rich the car is running, injector duration will be decreased by the ecu if the o2 sensor is not working correctly the ecu will take over and run the car rich to avoid lean conditions ie engine damage using data from the intake temp sensor, MAF and throttle position sensor, thats the normal cause of runnung rich. vag com should pick up a faulty o2 sensor
  17. piper do a set for £172 not sure on the quality http://www.pipercams.co.uk/NewPiperWeb/redesign/05cams/followers_cam.pdf I personally only use vw original followers and find them well over priced
  18. the best short runner intake for quality and design has got to be shimmell performance. i have spent the last year deciding which intake runner to get after rushing into buying an ebay special and finding out it needed alot of modification to get it to work well. The main problem was getting the injectors to seal correctly under boost. i am saving my money now for a professional mani which includes a fuel rail. http://www.schimmelperformance.com/mainpages/parts/shortrunnerintakes.htm heres the link a bit pricey though if you include import tax and shipping
  19. keep the airbox in the cupboard under the stairs and get an induction kit it will sound alot better and you still have the standard air box for when you sell the car on i see them all the time on ebay in fact there is a massive ram air filter for sale at the moment http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jetta-III-VR6-P-Flo-Ram-Air-Intake-Neuspeed-not-K-N_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38634QQitemZ8038201900QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW#ebayphotohosting just my opinion

  22. get the car on a diagnostics system if you are based near scarborough i will supply you with a cup of tea and run vag com on it to identify any sensor faults if not you first need to get it to vw or a garage with vagcom
