  3. yup they do great vw engines and heads they build for the vw racing scene in th USA dont forget Steath TSR The Phirm who i beleive are the EIP Tuning contact for over here there are alot of companies over here that do great heads the down side to ordering from the USA is import duty 17.5% plus shipping!! dont go expedited as it goes through the airport customs system there are alot of hidden charges (red tape) i got an engine sent from the USA it cost a fortune

  8. the botton end is built forged pistons and Pauter chromoly rods if i was going to build another vr turbo then my choice of pistons not be forged they are too noisy there is a piston type half way between cast and forged which has some of the durability of a forged piston and the tight fit in the bore of a cast piston the name escapes me hyper something i would reckon on taking a healthy block without a head spacer to 250-260 at the flywhee running 6 to 8psi probably more if the car was properly remapped from scratch good old vince at stealth can do obd1 cars on the fly i have used pre burnt ch

  10. want to share your thoughts on a vr with a supercharger and turbo +o( to run sequentially i heard vw are going to do this with the new golfs the supercharger would handle the lower boost range and the turbo can take over at high boost levels getting it seamless would be a task any one seen this done on other cars? what a project to get your teeth into its a bit of a dream but would be unique if someone could do it
  11. if any thing the propshaft would foul the exhaust the syncros have a split exhaust from the downpipe iirc to get around the propshaft

  13. i got a 3ltr EIP with low comp forged pistons i would not go forged again as they are noisy and there is quite a bit of blow by safer to run high boost though vince at stealth racing quoted me £2500 for a built bottom end with JE pistons give him a call TSR will do an engine for you or eurospec in the usa do every combination possible including a full 3.2 low compression engine with a big valve head Standard Short Blocks 021 103 033C 2.9 Short block. 2.9 L. 10.0:1. 82mm cast pistons.   14. 160 seems alot for a simple waterpump change more like £100 tops or do it yourself is the pump knackered or is it just the seal
  15. Hi Tom heres some pics of the EIP turbo core the only thing that i think could be improved is the angle of the wastegate pipe from the manifold
  16. the g68 is the sensor on the back of the gearbox whuch tell the speedo an ecu how fast you are going there may be a wire off or a knackered sensor check for voltage on either the blue/yellow or the blue /white wire terminal 30 may be the ecu live feed at the ecu plug
  17. ive heard you can take off the transfer box and buy a blanking plate or get one machined out of stainless or alloy but im not going to buy 1 unless it fits for sure might be worth doing a search on vwvortex
  18. the EIP manifold will fit perfectly they will also give you the option of having the wastegate exhaust rerouted to the downpipe instead of a dump pipe they use a turbotechnics t4 i have 1 fitted to an eip manifold
  19. what gear boxws will fit in a vr are there any 6 speed boxes that will go straight in ?
  20. i ran a stage 1 turbo system at 270 for 3 years before i had trouble i asked the same question could i upgrade the bands on the box to handle more power the answer was if i had enough money i mean serious money it could be done by a specialist it may be the torque converter on its way out try a transmission oil change its allways best to try the cheaper option first
  21. as far as i know the 2.9 has a different inlet manifold and the ecu has a more agressive fuel map and is suited to the 100cc increase in capacity if you want the best out of it it will need a custom remap or a 2.9 ecu vince at stealth has the software to remap obd1 cars on the fly he did mine
  22. the best advice i can give is to find someone with vag com and get it scanned
