  1. I've been contemplating having a go at the rears but the wheel bearings are putting me off. There is a guide on here which is pretty good. Job looks straight forward. I suppose the ABS rings are the usual things to watch as they usually get damaged when removing the disc and need replacing.
  2. Yours will be OBD2 if its a 1997 mate.
  3. Hi Guys. When it comes to dropping a VR lump in either a MK2 Golf or Jetta what exactly is needed apart from the obvious VR engine/loom/ECU etc? I'm assuming you'd need different engine mounts/brakes/servo etc?
  4. Just rest easy knowing that you wouldn't do it to someone else mate. What goes around comes around.
  5. I checked for 215/45/16 and it says 42psi for front!
  6. After all that can't believe it's being broken up mate. Sorry about that. When you get chance to sort prices can i have them on the following: Vortech V3 supercharger kit with OBD2 United Motorsport ECU, used for 100 miles, includes warranty for the charger 312mm brake conversion Stainless steel brake lines Vibratechnics engine mounts, all three Jetex non-resonated exhaust system AP suspension - 8 months old Thanks.
  7. Changed the temp sensor but same thing. Looks like i didnt test the MAF properly, Disconnected it and it ran for 25 mins without cutting out. Re-connected it and it cut out after 5 mins. New MAF time.
  8. Around town I get 25mpg with 34mpg on a run. Figures from the trip computer.
  9. Unplugged the MAF and ran it just to see if it made a difference but it still cut out after time. Noticed in VAGCOM that the coolant temp was reading 70c at one point but the needle on the dash was on 90c. When VAGCOM showed 90c the needle on the dash was at 90c. Not sure whether that is something to go on.
  10. For anyone who's interested, I swapped back to the standard airbox yesterday. Straight away there was an inital low down improvement but after running it for a full day it's now like a different car. I usually put it in 3rd and wait for the revs to drop a bit say just below 2krpm and then accelerate. It pulls a lot more from low down and gets to speed a lot faster. I suppose VW/Audi spend milions on development so the airbox can't be that bad for a standard engine.
  11. You reckon? Hope it's something straight forward like that.
  12. Hi guys. Got this annoying problem with the VR. Once the car has reached operating temp and your in traffic say or just on the drive at idle, without no warning the car just cuts out. You can start it straight away, leave for a few mins then it almost cuts out then recovers, but then cuts out again. I changed the crank sensor earlier which I hoped would fix the issue but when starting from cold and leaving it once it reaches 90c the revs start to hover up/down and then it cuts out. Does anyone have any ideas on this?
  13. I installed a Neuspeed P-Flo about 2 months back which is basically a open cone with a heatshield which I didn't fit because it it didn't fit properly. Feel a big loss of low down power. Feels very flat at the moment. Will be popping the airbox back on with a panel filter and see what the difference is.
  14. No mate, I just bought a set of the Rainbow direct fit speakers in the end.
  15. The best thing about the R32 over the VR is the power low down. That's the one thing that bugs me about my car is that it has nothing low down; and since fitting a Neuspeed P-FLO kit it's even lasier low down due to a slight loss of torque. The MK4 R32 is instant grunt in just about any part of the rev range. I had my remapped which on a n/a car is sometimes pointless but the difference in power delivery was amazing and the extra power I gained was quite surprising. The one thing I have learned over the years is that I was always striving for more and more power yet when I got it I could never
  16. Having owned a 2003 R32 for a year I didn't find it much more expensive than the VR6. Obviously tyres are slightly more being 18" but it all depends which tyres you buy. In the year I had mine I spent hardly anything on it as most things were done. Brake discs can be quite expensive due to the awkward size. A few years ago not many companies made them and it was only main dealer so prices were high. But nowadays you can get them pretty much anywhere really. Fuel consumption I found was the same; no better no worse. Totally different cars in every way. I had to sell mine as we were buying a hou
  17. Think it's a Bonrath Power Rohr. You can get them from Venom: http://www.venommotorsport.com/bonrath-power-rohrs.html
  18. I was hoping someone would clear that up.
  19. I suppose it's what you think is best mate. I think too many smoked bits on the front end darkens the car. I've got smoked indicators and crystal fogs on my black highline. Just looking for a set of Hella Smoked Twin headlights which were easy to buy over the counter from Eurocarparts a few years ago but now are obselete. Sell me the wheels when your done with them!
  20. Always wanted those wheels but can't get them new anymore. Crystal fogs/indicators look sweet in my opinion mate. Lovely VR.
  21. Aside frm the problems I think that was a good buy. Get it sorted now and you'll be away.
  22. Just had it on IE8. Site is real slow now.
