    I'm in the process of buying another VR6 for my cousin and have found one but the ABS sensor light is on so the owner tells me but he aint spendin more cash on it before it goes.

    Is it easy to remove the front grille on the VR guys? Managed to get myslef a black FK grille on ebay but was wondering if anyone could give me a few pointers on taking the old grille off?

    Gavin, from just outside Cardiff. Just had my new VR Highline. But its been in the bodyshop getting the rust on the back window done so havent been in it for what seems like ages!! Should have it back this week though.

    I do know for a fact that Admiral/Bell Direct/Elephant etc who are all under the same company wont throw your policy out if you did mod the car and made a claim. My best mate is on the claims department for Admiral and all they do is charge the extra on top of your policy for the amount that declaring your mods would have come to in the first place. Companies like Directline on the other arent so easy on you. I've got a friend who had his policy thrown out by Directline when he wrote his car off and didnt declare that the 1.8T Golf MK4 150BHP he was driving was in fact a 360BHP monster courtes

    I've been with elephant for over 5 years as they always manage beat everyone elses quotes. Only thing is, once you do any mods like Suspension, ECU Remap or Bodykits they dont allow it mate i'm afraid. I've always had 1.8T Golfs/Leons and always had the REVO remap but never bothered telling them. I know some think thats wrong but once you mention Remaps and points on your licence they start adding

    I'm having the rust patches sorted this week on the arches and rear window, and was told due to the fact that the rear windows are bonded in, i would have to buy a new window ! Does this spund right?

    Can i fit side skirts of a normal vr6 to a highline? Are they a clip on job?

    Does anyone know if side skirts came standard on the highline because there are none on mine? If not, can i get a set from VW? Think they are just the black plastic ones? Any part numbers to hand?

    Is 101,000 miles mega mileage on a VR6? 1997 Highline with FVWSH? Apparently maintained regardless of cost.

    Just picked up my new Highline on the weekend from a guy in London and he informed me that the car had been lowerred just on springs with the original shocks (He thinks) he said. He also said that it was owned by a vw mechanic previously. Anyway; i;ve had the car up on the ramp in work for one of the VW guys to have a look at for me and there are Koni yellow shock all round with the adjustable turners on the struts under the bonnet. Can anyone tell me if the suspension would be just pressure adjust or height adjust or both? Thanks.

    Yeah, just checked. All windows have the VW Sekurit sign on them with the code no on it. Stop putting me off now mate!!! I'm apprehensive enough as it is. My last highline was in better body condition than this one but this highline has a better engine from what i can gather. Both cars are the same age/plate, with similar mileage. Gotta get the rust done though!!!!!!

    Its been a london car for the past year. All windows still have the vw sekurit sign on them i think. I paid 3,900. 1997 Highline with 77k on clock.

    Hi guys. Just pickup up my new VR. 1997 Highline in Black. Not too impressed with the seller though. Went all the way to London only to find that the car has rudt on both rear arches and on the passenger side rear windows along with both side moudling coming away on both front doors due to broken clips. Firstly will i have to go to VW to get the plastic side moulding clips to clip the moulding strip back on? Secondly how much do you guys reckon for a bit of rust sorting? Thanks.

    Just got some nice RS6 5 spokes from Autoalloys in Ireland and fitted them to the car. Fronts have an offset of 30 to clear the calipers and all is fine. The backs were also et30 and rubbed badly so they sent me out 2 new et35s. I stuck the et35s on the back and there was no rubbing at all. As soonas someone sat in the passenger side it would start slightly catching on the back again!!! Am i gonna need an et38/40? or just dont bother with them and choose another style? The wheels are 7x17 with 205/40/17 tyres. [ Edited ]

    I just paid £4895 for my 1997 P Highline with 75k on clock. Needed new axle bushes though.

    Just had to have my rear ABS sensors replaced because the rear caliper bolts had seized up and they needed to get them out to change the discs; so they had to warm them up and smash em off. problem being that the ABS sensors were in the way so they had to be mashed aswell. Didnt have to pay for the sensors though, which was a bargain considering they are £76 ish . [ Edited Wed Feb 09 2005, 01:01PM ]

    The highline that i've just bought has got a B&M on it and bearing in mind that i've never experienced a short shift till now, my first impressions are that it doesnt inspire confidence in the gear change. Obviously there is less throw which makes the whole change feel quicker but on my car it just feels very hit&miss so to speak. You've really got to shove it into gear, which is the part i dont like.
