  1. what u mean, get rid of the black hose and the black rubber disc and put a filter (i.e brether) on?
  2. right......if you you look at the air intake pipe curving towards the throttle body, you will see a rubber pipe that comes off it and goes somewhere under the top left hand corner of the vr6 plastic panel. The pipe has a black disc (with possbile metallic terminals)to it aswell. This pipe is broken, and i can hear hissing sounds from it. all the time. What is this part, what purpose does it serve and whats the best way to repair it. Also if this is pipe is broken, can it contribute towards poor idling. [ Edited ]

    Help Me...?

sorry i know this is totally irrelevant to this topic, but im after something that is the pic above. Its a green little cap blocking off one of the nozzles on the brake servo pipe. This part is sooo simple, and its probably not even going to cost much, but all the vw dealerships ive rung keep saying "oh you have to bring your car down for us to have a look"
  4. When ever i step out my car in a car park, i always tend to look around before walking off. I guess im a bit prang sometimes aswell. Thats probably why i invested in a decent alarm. I think the chirp when somegets toooo close puts me at ease sometimes. Its quiet high pitched, so it draws atttention if someones upto no good. Bein quiet honest, theres a good reason why these cars have a high insurance group rating.
  5. Where is this idle stabilisation valve??? Any instruction on remove & re-fitting.
  6. im no expert, but do these vehicle comes with idle control valves??? mines a 1996 vr. obd2. i have no complaints driving. the bloody thing shifts, but its only during idling lumpy when the engine is warm or at its normal operating temperature. Ive noticed
  7. well, the idling has definitley improved.....but its not perfect. What rpm do vr6's normally idle at??? Mine at the moment is hovering between 800-900rpm. Shouldnt it be exactly 900rpm?? I think it might be the idle control valve or throttle body that might need a clean out. Any suggestions on doing this
  8. cheers guys, i actually bought one from a "snap on tool" guy today. He usually comes into my dealership. Hopefully i can get those leads in properly nw and get rid of that lumpy idling! [ Edited Thu Dec 02 2004, 07:20PM ]
  9. Ive noticed since i had my magnecor KV85 leads fitted, i noticed the idling is a little lumpy. Im sure one or two of the leads arent making good contact with the plugs. The car tends to idle between 800-900rpm. (I swear it used to idle at 900rpm sharp). Ive noticed a constant clicking coming from the chambers. and in the dark when i look down , i can see some thin blue current flying around. I know there is a specific tool to do the job, but is there any way i can get those leads fitted 100%. Any help appreciated. [ Edited ]
  10. guess i have to hook it upto a diagnostic machine then.
  11. just wanted to know if vr6's come with engine warning lights to let drivers know if the engine isnt running properly. I swear i have never seen my on even though the idling has become lumpy.

  13. Just curious to know if this part is dirty or becomes faulty, how would it affect the running of the engine??? If it is dirty, then can it be cleaned. [ Edited ]
  14. i had trouble getting that off. I was there sweating, huffing & puffin, so was my mate. Quiet emberassing though for two young guys who regulary weight train.....along came my 65 year old neighbour and undid it within 5 seconds. !amazed !amazed His saying was, "power is nothing without technique!". I was thinking "whateva mate", go back and watch yur bruce lee movies!
  15. Some of you might remember my post, when i stupidly let the charcoal cannister catch fire by letting it hang above the exhaust. Obviously the charcoal cannister, was fraggled, the brake servo pipe was fraggled and the air intake pipe had melted. NOW.......I have replaced the charcoal cannister with a new one- re situated it to the other side of the engine. I replaced the brake servo pipe, and fitted a ABD racing air intake pipe. I still get this annoying "bump" "bump" feel when the car idles. To me its obvious cos i drive the car all the time, passengers havent noticed anythig, but i know its
  16. that car just looks tooooo sick! nice one!

    Ouch!

the dealership i work for, specialise in mechanical work for fiat and alfa romeo....hourly charge is 70+ vat. The technicians are factory trained and are sent on intensive courses after a period of time. I guess if the techs are factory trained and have undertaken range of courses then that sort of amount is justifiable.
  18. so what would happen if the mod was done in winter. For example like today?
  19. wow! nice one. cheers for that. look forward to seeing the pic. Im just enquiring cos the weekend is here, i have to replace the aux belt tommorow, grease the belt tensioner. I thought as im under bonnet, i'll try this out.
  20. how about this one. I read this (yet again!). Apparently keeps the intake temperature cooler, so there isnt any hot coolant running through. Any advice?
  21. I found this link earlier on about modifying the throttle body. It mentions a "ramp" on the throttle body which can be grinded/smoothed down. http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/1108/faq.throttlebody.html Just curious to know if any one has carried out this mod. [ Edited ]
  22. i also renewed my brake servo pipe at the same time.
