  1. oh, forgto to mention tho...the best tyres are supposed to be goodyear eagle f1's, they're next on my list, a friend has them on his merc and they are pretty impressive. cheapest place for any tyres is bracknell tyre & ??? centre. they quoted about £200 for a full set of uniroyals, and about £220 for a full set of f1's (205/50R15) which is very very cheap.
  2. at the mo yoko 539's on front, pirelli p6000 on rear, they're ok, better than my previous michelin pilots, but not as good as uniroyal rallye540's that were on the car when i got it.
  3. the only thing i miss from my previous car (mkII punto) is the cup holders!! they were in the centre console, and much better than silly pop out ones (its all physics, the lower the drink is, the less chance of it spilling!). i once went over a jump at 60 with a full can and it didn't spill!!
  4. i'm not gettin any anymore...cause i spent the money on having a quick go in a clio cup car instead! seems like too many people are planning on blue ones tho (which is what i was gonna go for)...maybe its a good idea to be different.
  5. i dont think its that critical what the exact pressure is, its if they are all the same that is critical. sounds like you have a prob, maybe head gasket.

    mk.4 seats

yeah, you can weld the mkIV runners onto the floor pan, but you can also cut and weld the seat frame instead.
  7. am i the only one with a tornado red one?
  8. just for your info, the hose thats gone on mine would cost £60 fro vw...contacted a samco dealer and the same hose would cost £50 (and thats normal prices!)
  9. any chnace of ading everyones milage on the list pete, i'm very interested to see what high mileage cars got?
  10. got a bit of deva ju here...i've already answered an identical post on cgti!! lol! basic jist of what i said there was... -use synta silver (6 litres needed) -suspension (if you go for gmax you'll still have good ride, i reckon they are the comfiest suspension kits available) -second hand schrik vsr for under £1k if you're patient. (better low down torque) -different final drive ratio, and a ATB/LSD. (vr6 is held back by its gearbox, and its lack of traction)
  11. well, bear in mine that '92 vr6's had dizzy's, '92-early '94 had twin plug obd connectors, then late '94 on had the 19 pin connector which was taken over to obd2 in '96. dunno if any of this makes a difference to the ecu, but i'd have thought it would.
  12. nope, obd2 would def not work. all the electrics and fuel injection are comletely different. there may in fact be many different ones as well, you need to get one that has the same part number as yours i would imagine. (i'm guessin at the second bit, but seems logical to me as there are two different diagnostics plugs on obd1) [ Edited Sun Feb 22 2004, 10:12PM ]
  13. did anyone have figures of less than 172bhp?
  14. thats poor...i think (been so long since i've had a workin speedo, and thus mfa!). i used to get about 32mpg at 90mph constant.
  15. the diagnostics port will be behind one of the blanks above the ash tray. you're gonna need springs, dampers alone won't cure the poor o.e. handling. eibach springs are good ride quality, altho the comfiest uprated ones are gmax i suppose. either way, it won't be as harsh as the mkII with a kit.
  16. sorry i missed it, next time tho! when we gonna get a list of everyone's RR figures? (inc car/mods please!)
  17. cool, pics please how much they costs you to buy?
  18. nah' date=' unfortuantly not... a)can't afford to drive up there, and b)angine bay looks like this at the mo... [img']http2.jpg [ Edited Fri Mar 05 2004, 07:07PM ]
  19. whlst we're on the subject of how expensive vw are... was just at the dealership buying a couple of bolts and glanced at a big board they have on the wall with service prices on, the cost for a new clutch on a vr6.. £663!!!!!
  20. every car i've seen that has bonnet lifters 'added' have the prob that the bonnet doesn't sit right when closed. are you fitting them to the mkIII? i'd be interested to see some pics when you've fitted them, both open and closed. sorry i can't help you fit them tho!
