  1. well, i can't afford to buy it unfortuantly, thats why i posted it up here in case anyone was interested (i wouldn't post a potential ebay purchase anywhere as then i risk pushing the bid up - me is sneaky!)
  2. why will it increase the bhp in an obd1 then?
  3. i suspect its from an early one, as there's a lot of other engine bits off a dizzy model ('92 only afaik)
  4. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2460558941&category=9889 it's got the 'vr6 - DOHC' logo in the metal, as opposed to mine which has a plastic cover over it. is it a 'rado one or a very early one? (just curious)
  5. they cost £18 the pair from ecp if i remember correctly...which is less than the rear mkIII golf ones! dunno the cost from vw, but part no is... 6N0 837 207C
  6. biggest prob with rear beam bushes is getting the brake bias valve off...it's the only thing you need to move as the bolts will round and then you have to cut the valve off and get a new one, the rest can be 'pursuaded' out the way!
  7. you know if anyone doesn't want their air-con i'll have it?!!
  8. at the end of the day, if we were that worried about weight, and thus perfromance, we'd all be driving caterhams everywhere! i'd rather have aircon...its only a few bhp, or a tenth of a sec on the 0-60.
  9. [victor meldrew]i don't believe it[/victor meldrew]!!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2460432678&category=23009 ...wrong bloody side ain't it! doh! anyway, to stop this being a useless post...will lhd anni ones get through the mot?
  10. really not sure about gettin LHD ones...they have be worse, from a vision point of view. whats the cheapest you can get normal ones for? or should i get one standard mkIII one to replace my broken one (drivers side, anyone have a spare?) and wait till i can get anni mkIV ones on RHD?
  11. can you get the anni ones (ones with black insides, as opposed to all chrome)in RHD? if so, how much are they and where's the cheapest place to source them? if not, where's the cheapest i can get the 'normal' mkIV ones from (and how much)? cheers in advance.
  12. what years your vr6 pete.svr6? if it's pre -96, it'll most likely have 280mm, you're better spending the extra and gettin a set of second hand 288mm front calipers with standard pads/discs. either way, unless you overheat your brakes there's not much point in getting uprated stuff as they don't work as well from cold, and often ruin pedal feel.
  13. first i snapped this (no.15) cause the bolts rounded. then i threw a spanner though the headlamp cause i got pi*sed off! anyone have any spares cluttering up their garage? [ Edited ]
  14. h/gasket? i'm, in the middle of doin mine at the mo!
  15. it's all negligable really....every single car has a slightly different power output, i'd bet that there's some early (obd1) vr's that have more power than some highlines out there.
  16. ....but...most of the late cars have this slight power advantage neutralised by the addition of air-con.
  17. any other mods, or is just the schrik and the re-map?
  18. dunno whether its metal, but the vw one is part no. 021 012 213 and costs about £15.
  19. i'm gonna do the 288mm upgrade one day (i have 280mm at the mo)...i just need calipers, discs, and pads right?
  20. yep '96. the later brkaes (288mm) have a spring clip across them, where as the early ones (280mm) don't...thats how you tell them apart.

    mk.4 seats

think its a case of cutting and welding the fronts. apparantly the rears go straight in but look funny, but then i've also heard the the bracket for the split rear seat needs to be cut and welded.
  22. er...that may put the cost up a lot tho! and i ain't loaded. if i was takin the box of, i may as well get a new one - mines shot (no syncro's left!). how much do you reckon for a second hand box (has to be from an early one too as i have EDL - late ones don't), and how much for a clutch?
