  1. so not worth it. i'm guessing you'd have to change the pretty much every bit of wiring and a lot of anciliaries. remember the abs is different as well.
  2. i dont think a 24v 2l turbo actually exists
  3. the best thing to do on vr6's is to do an oil change every 5k and use synta silver (which is semi-synthetic, and is available from vw or gsf). by changing the oil every 5k it'll make the engine last longer...or so i've heard.
  4. all good points, but at the end of the day its your life, your money, and you're free to do what you want with it. is true, as mina says, that theres more performance to be gained from the driver than from the car. one of my mates has a 2.0 16v nova with NOS, can he loose me...can he fuck, the boy can't drive. anything he pulls out on the straight can be made back in the corners...i would corner quicker in my sis's old 1.4 nova than he could in his with his coilovers. and another mate won't go on a trackday in his mkII gti golf cause he says its not fast enough...he's gonna spend loads on it s
  5. the vr6 is a perfect all rounder. its reasonably fast, roomy, comfortable, fun enough on corners. to spend £5k on one is silly, but thats some people hobby.
  6. well, if its still in one piece i wouldn't worry! i know of a racing driver who changed down instead of up (on a sequential box) at thruxton this year and managed to rev to 10000rpm in a clio cup car (limiter is at 7500, but couldn't handle it!), and its fine. so i wouldn't worry too much! lol
  7. don't tell me that! lol i had suspected it might be a tight fit.
  8. standard it'll do 110 in 3rd..high revs mind! does 70 in second
  9. well, we got the ball joints separated, but they were old, and the rubber was damaged on one of them so i've decided to get new ones. bushes are now in the wishbones, just gotta get the ball joints from vw. also, found out that my wishbones are still the original ones that came with the car...they have a date printed on them...so at least i know the car hasn't been wacked against anything hard in its life. 10. damage doesn't sound that bad, really not worth destroying the car for. have you uprated arb's/bushes...may as well replace the damaged bits with better stuff where ever possible.
  11. it can be, i have a new one, but the old one appeared fine. i'll change it anyway, and see what happens.
  12. there isn't a cable...its all electric, theres just the plastic spinny bit, which goes into the sender.
  13. thats exactly what my logic is tellig me, however the spinny thing thats attached to the sender seemed ok, is there another part thats down in the box (hope not, or i'll have to take the box out!)
  14. think i may just change the mount at the same time. have to be a gsf or ecp one tho, unless vw don't charge any more, which is doubtful! one q, which bolts should i undo at the hub side of the wishbone, the two smaller ones (no.4) or the big one on top of the ball joint (no. 10)?
  15. well, it hasn't been workin at all for a few months...which hasn't been an issue as the car hasn't been! anyway, i changed the sender, and the plastic thing that goes into the box appeared ok, so i thought it was the actual clocks. thus, i have been looking for a second hand set with similar mileage. anyway, went to go for the MOT today (they didn't check it by the way!), and it starts workin, well sort of. it works fine upto 20mph, then the needle starts 'wobbling' and doesn't gop any higher! any idea's?
  16. i doubt theres many people around who have the same kit as you, so finding someone with the same prob will be hard. you tried that US forum?
  17. any tips, or advice that i need to know in advance? am i right in sayig the sump gets in the way of one of the bolts? so i'll either need to remove it (and thus need new gasket), or shall i change the gearbox mount, seeing as its a bit worn (but it'll have to be with a gsf one, camn't afford any other)?
