  1. have you put it on VAG-COM yet? my other feeling is that it might be the immobiliser, sometimes they go faulty, causing the symptoms you are seeing.
  2. I've actually been unlucky, it just ended up being a blown bulb in the ABS light unit, unfortunately I did buy another one, but that had a blown bulb too! I'm going to try and find a new bulb and solder it onto the PCB... Also the comms issue appears to be VCDS, I tried vag-com 709.x and that was fine... It just freaks out when using VCDS, any idea where I can find a bulb from?
  3. Final stretch with my corrado, but come across an MOT show stopper.. The ABS light doesn't come on at all, I've checked the voltage to the light which is 12v, I've also obtained a new light to ensure that it wasn't the actual light at fault... I've also got problems communicating with the ABS ECU via VCDS, and intermittently get 'too many communication' errors, I can hear the pump 'clicking' when VCDS attempts to interrogate the system, ive also obtained another ECU as my old one had badly corroded terminals from water ingress, the ECU is also getting a good 12v supply using multimeter on the
  4. Sounds like the heater motor isn't working... Check fuse and relay... It could be possible that the motor is dead but cheaper / easier to check fuses etc... Im pretty sure it's the yellow sensor that controls the temp dial on the clocks... Bridge terminal A and C with ignition on... If the needle moves, then you know its the yellow sensor at fault.. Do you know if your aux water pump is working as that also is operated from the same switch, you can test that by bridgeing B and D. The thermostat housing is located on the front right side of the engine, easy to spot as there's 3 sensors usually
  5. The idea of this is that you help premium members for free, usually garages would charge for this sort of thing.
  6. If your only getting 12v with the engine running, it would suggest a problem with your alternator... with ignition off, you should see 12v.... as you have pointed out, you should get 13.5v - 14v all the time when the engine is running. Pete
  7. Replace the line, if its cracked already, who's to say that other parts of the line have become weakened... With brakes being probably the biggest thing in regards to safety the last thing I would do the job properly and replace the whole line... it shouldn't be that expensive to have a single line made up... as there would be a lot of pressure in the lines once your stamping on the brakes, the last thing you want happening is for your foot to hit the floor when your doing 60MPH and you need to brake. Please don't 'bodge' the line for the sake of yourself and any passengers that go in your ca
  8. Do it properly and get an obd2 wing
  9. Could be brake bias valve, sounds like you need to get underneath it to see where the leak is coming from, could be corroded lines, or knackered brake hose...
  10. Holy batman!! Thread revival... Stealth racing do launch control, theres a good demo video on YouTube that stealth did!
  11. Could be your sensor in the thermo housing.... Does your Heater motor work? I assume your just getting cold air and no hot air? Do the pipes that go into the matrix at the back of the engine bay get hot?

  13. We put in a lot of effort and planning into all our events, it's you guys that make them the success. Unfortunatly it's the way sometimes when people who commit later drop out, the side effect is that organising bigger events costs us money that could have been put into other areas of the club It's you guys that make the show, so please only register interest if you are coming

  15. Have a great weekend everyone!!! hope the weather hold out!!
  16. Was the replacment rack a genuine item? made the mistake of buying a new rack from GSF.... what a mistake... lasted less than a year before it was pulling to one side again... I believe the drive shaft on the left is the shorter of the 2, and therefore is a little more prone to pulling to the left than the right... I also had a worn knuckle on the bottom of my steering colum that goes into the steering rack which didnt help matters.. but part of my trouble shooting i replaced balljoints, arms, suspension... 4 wheel alignment at stealth. further more, I did replace with a genuine rack at a lat
  17. Could you guys please put if you can do OBD1 / OBD2 / both etc... ? just makes it easier and will match up with the OBD type in users profiles
  18. Yep. There's a detailed photo guide on replacing the heater matrix in the premium members section that tony has done.... for the sake of a tenner, it probably will be a big help, not to mention everything else you get also

  20. Hi All. If you have VAG-COM VCDS or another fault code reader (snap on etc...) and you wish to help out other premium members by performing fault code readings, resetting DTC's etc... then please let me know the following information: Location: Diagnostic Software / Device OBD Interface Type... Once I have an updated List of people who are willing to help out other members, I will create a thread with all of the details. Cheers Pete

  24. There is a very good guide in the Premium Members Knowledge Vault for replacing the heater matrix in the Golf mk3, making the job a little less problamatic...
  25. no, the heat exchanger is in the oilcooler on the front of the engine as far as im aware. The heater matrix sits behind the dashboard inside the car...
