Oooops, i'd say a deffo ban, did they let you drive off? I'm surprised if they did. My mate got nicked doing 115mph and I had to drive his car back to the station wilst he was taken in the Police car.

I would have thought it wasn't a deffo 145mph (speedo accuracy).

Ooops is all I can say my friend, bend over and take it like a man i'm afraid!! :(

Oops, gotta watch those Skodas mate, seen loads of unmarked Octavia VRs lateley. I have to say it must have been coming though mate, a mile is a very very long time to be doing those kinds of speeds. My mate got done at 104mph from 900 yards away, even with 3 observant people in the car. You haven't got a chance of seeing a speed trap from that distance or at anywhere near your speed. Every time someone gets close to me at 3 figure speeds I let them by, you just never know which ones are unmarked cars.

Yikes!!

The other day I read about someone who actually got their car SEIZED by the Police for doing that sort of speed, so all things considered you're lucky.

You could get away with a 3 month ban if you have a previously unblemished record and get a good specialist Solicitor.

A good place to go to discuss recommendations and your likely punishment is PepiPoo.com's forum:

Being a fellow speed freak, I have found this forum useful on several occasions.

i remember when my brother in law was doing his advanced driving with the police in an unmarked car, some bloke tried racing them on the m1 at 120mph.it wasn't till they turned the flashing lights on that decided it was a bad idea ! how he didn't see the 4 coppers in full uniform is beyond me... they let him off ;)

Many years ago now I was doing 134, I was racing some guy and thought he had blown his engine as he just hammered on the brakes and I shot past him only to look up at a bridge to see 2 coppers with a speed gun (if your not paying attention it's your own fault) anyway the front bumper nearly touch the motorway I braked so harshley but he still clocked me doing over a ton,as i passed the sliproad the blue lights come on and I pulled over, the worst thing was in court when they read out my statement what I had said after being corsioned(terible spella)"I was only going fast as I needed a poo" said in a court speakers manner sounded pathetic %-6 .Ah well teach me for being a pratt,

We have all let the right foot slip and broke the speed limit, i dont believe that anyone here has always kept to the right speed limits??! But 145 is potentially dangerous speed on a public road, i am not saying i am an angel as i have a couple of years ago gone alot faster than that, although it was 2am with no cars about, but that does not make it right. I doubt there is anyway you will get out of a ban, but plead that you need the car for your job or you will get the sack, but get a solicitor to sort this out and write to the court on your behalf, and maybe, just maybe you will get a lesser ban. Speed camera detectors are invaluble and at the cost its not worth not having. Good luck and remember in future those kind of speeds are for the race track ;)
