A rather wet but well attended Kirkcudbright Classic Car Show.. found a nice original mk2 Gti to park next to..bonus!

Winter hibernation in the spray booth..just a few easy jobs here n there and she'll be ready for shiny summer wheels and the road again...! After 2 years off the road excited is an understatement!!

Immobiliser was taken off when I had the map done
Got the new ecu tried and it's firing up now but new ecu needs immobiliser taking off
So ecu was at fault

Carbon mirror covers to fit tomorrow.

Windscreen out for rust n leak repair 

So, instead of going for a rebuild i thought about getting my gearbox oil changed for the off chance it could be shitty and thin and maybe that could be causing to to get abit noisey when warm..so off i went yesterday to the garage go get it changed and i left them to it.
Got a phone call to say its all done and ready for pick up..and the guy who did it said "oh by the way, when we took the drain plug out no oil came out, it was as dry as ghandys flip flop:-/ which was a good thing as i was expecting to pay for another gearbox. He said he flushed the gearbox with a full litre of oil to make sure there was no metal filings in there and there wasnt...drove it the long way home so it was nice and warm and its as quiet as a mouse ) so much more pleasant to drive and cost me £40 instead of a few hundred quid...phew...good job i didnt drive it when the noises started to happen or it could of been alot worse..so overall im a happy bunny )

Front Calipers back on, nice new seals n refresh on paint. Engine back together after doing timing chains, clutch and an as yet untested v5 EBS Gearbox... It better work I've put £40 worth of MT90 in it!!!

Hi everyone...after 3 years of membership I suppose I better introduce myself to keep using the forum. Got my 98 highline 4 years back and since then it's had nearly every bolt undone/cleaned/renewed over 2 rebuilds.
 
Currently still in garage, on rebuild number 2 ( all the things I missed/couldn't afford first time round!).
Pregnant Wife and a 2 year old make this list rather large!
Down in Stranraer SW Scotland so well out of way. Anyone swinging by or catching boat drop me a line (I work on it)

Cheers Pete, thank you. I really should have been more active up until now. I've learnt a wealth of knowledge from being a vr6oc member and should be trying to put something back! Maybe a build thread once I get it all together again.
