  1. Mine were just laminex over standard fogs but I prefer the ambers & the vents. Just ordered a load of cleaning gear as hopefully I'll get a couple of days on it next week
  2. Me too, they beat everybody else by about £400..... See what it's like this year though
  3. Well, I had a few hours free yesterday so though I'd start getting the Golf back on the road. 1st thing to do was remove the ABS pump...... What a pain in the arse that was! The offending item. It was collected by BBA Reman this afternoon so hopefully they will repair it & i'll get it back next Wed/Thurs. While it was on axle stands I decided to remove the side skirts as the passenger side was held on by duct tape. This is what I found, it's been stuck on with sikaflex as it had rotted all the way through. Tomorrows job is to get the side strips o
  4. Not yet mate, keep running into problems getting it back on the road
  5. If you're putting new arches on then get them rolled flat & you won't have a problem unless you go stupid wide
  6. Yeah I know now lol I can't find a 217 anywhere so it's back to my original idea of sending the original one off to bba reman for fixing.
  7. They will rub without arch rolling mate. I'm running 6.5 x 16 et 22 with 205/45 tyres & they rubbed like hell on the rear.
  8. If it's OBD 2 then yes you'll still need to recode it as well as needing the VCDS to bleed the pump.
  9. Hi all, For some reason I bought the wrong pump for my Golf, I bought 1H2 614 117 E which I thought it was but in fact it's 1H2 614 217 E, I've found 1 for sale online but am wondering if anybody has access to ETKA & can tell me if there's any compatible pumps that I can use. Cheers Jamie
  10. What model/platform are the rear shocks for is what he means..... I think you can use shorter ones but don't know which they come from? Maybe polo?

    mod hatred!

You forgot to add "Get wheels and air ride on finance too"
  12. This is what I wanted to hear..... Decisions, decisions lol
  13. The best coilovers I've had on a car were the Eibach street ones, had them on my E36 M3 & they were spot on. I ran that car low & they rode almost like standard..... May need to save a bit (lot) more Although I'm sure someone on here must have the AP's on a VR6.
  14. That's what I'm worried about. I don't want to ruin the drivability of the car.
  15. Is anyone running the AP fixed rate coilover? I'm thinking of getting a set to put on my Golf after the wedding. At £400 they seem good value but can't find much info/reviews on them on a Golf VR6. I've run cheapo coilovers in the past & hated them but can't justify £700+ for KW or the likes. I don't need the dampening adjustability as it's just a road car but I want to be able to set the height right..... Also want it to handle better & the fixed +25% damper rate is a good compromise.
  16. Nope. It's the same as the front. The rear beam will wedge against the floor or the wheels will jam in the arches. It would be possible to drag it like I've just done with the GTI I scrapped last week but it wrecks the car/floor but you wouldn't be able to push it around.
  17. That's what my 1st VR6 ran (202bhp & 212lbft) with full miltek exhaust inc sports cat, induction kit & AMD re map. So I think yours has been mapped at some point too. Good figures though mate
  18. Don't oil it! When I had my 1st VR6 I took it to a "reputable" VW specialist. They oiled my induction kit which in turn wrecked the MAF, VR6 MAFs don't like the oil.
  19. I think it would be easier to buy a complete auto vr6 & swap the lot over, that way you will have everything you need. Sourcing parts separately could become a nightmare.
  20. I'd kill to find a workshop like that! Will make working on your Golf so much easier! Full steam ahead!!!
  21. No worries. Cheers mate
  22. Is the ABS pump/ecu working? What is the part number on it?
  23. Have you tried in bolting both shocks & letting the axle drop down so you can get at them properly? That's what I do everytime I need to work on the rear calipers as there's just no room otherwise. If you lower the axle right down you should be able to hammer an old, slightly oversize torx bit in then undo that.
  24. I'm the same, just enough to do the basics. Or remove the front bumper if I need to call the AA
