  1. No mate. The 5dr GTi was supposed to be a breaker but it’s far too good.... Non sunroof, AC car the needs barely anything to put back on the road. Gonna use it as a daily & go silly on the VR6 [emoji16]
  2. Yeah..... Er..... 2 of them [emoji23][emoji23]
  3. She’s currently looking sorry for herself while I sort out what bits are needed.
  4. It is mate, there’s a ton of work to do before it’s back on the road but I’m hoping to get it done for the summer..... Just deciding which way to go with her.
  5. It looks like I'll have another VR6 by the end of the month.... My obsession with the Mk3 Golf is stronger than I thought [emoji23] Slightly less than 5 years this time VR6Pete [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  6. This is for dalep The coilovers are as low as they'll go with the helper springs still in, they could be removed if you wanted to go silly low, as you can see in the picture below.
  7. Luckily I don't need to daily it & it's about the same on Fuel as the VR6, just a bigger tank. I was getting about 200-250miles per tank from the Golf & it's about 4-500 per tank in this (80l) stop start town driving is what would kill the fuel. I did 10miles this morning taking my daughter to nursery & it was clocking 16mpg when I got home. This is a lovely place to sit though [emoji41]
  8. 4.4, 8cylinders & 300bhp has grunt enough & it doesn't sound too bad either...... Plus they still do supercharger kits for them [emoji48]
  9. This time I don't think so Pete. If I'd have know I could get classic insurance on the E38 I would never have got the VR6 last year..... This cost the same to insure, MPG is about the same & I don't need to modify it as it has everything as it is. So this would have been cheaper [emoji23][emoji23]
  10. Unfortunately the Golfs have had to go, I realised I needed something bigger with baby number 2 on the way. The 3 dr has gone & I'm breaking the VR6. I've replaced them with a little BMW [emoji4] Happy motoring everyone [emoji106]
  11. Evening all. Over the next 6 months I'll be swapping my VR6 over to the GTi I just bought. With them both being '96 cars am I correct in thinking that they're both OBD2? Are the engine looms anywhere near the same? I know I'll have to change the full loom but would that be it? I'll have the full car to strip so have everything just need some pointers as I've never done an engine swap before, my mate will be doing most of this as he's the mechanic but I'd like to know beforehand what I'll need as I want to prep the car before it goes up to him for the actual swap. Thanks in advance Jamie
  12. Got all the stuff off it to sell, just waiting for my mate to get some spare time to do the bit of welding then can bring the shell home to clean & finalise my plans.
  13. So, yesterday I bought a 3dr, non sunroof GTi. The shell is in very good condition but the engine was knackered. The plan now is to sort the shell then swap the engine & box over from my 5dr. You can see from the pictures that it's been proper chaved up but with less than 100,000 on the clock it really deserved rescuing & it will cost less to swap the motor on this than do the bodywork on the 5dr. Yesterday was a productive day though. All in all it's a really clean shell with just a small bit of patching up to do.
  14. Got the black cloth seats, black door cards/switches & black centre console/hand brake fitted. Much happier with it now, prefer it greatly to the beige leather & plastics. This will be about all I do till after xmas as every thing that needs doing now will require a bit of saving. On the to do list is Refurbish the S3's & put some decent tyres on. See what welding needs doing to the sills. Get another sunroof, headliner & rear window mechs. Fit carpet & rest of black plastics. Probably end up buying a breaker for all the bits as it will be easier & probabl
  15. Got the RSX's fitted. Currently on the lowest setting & I really like the way it sits now. Will look better when I get the S3's refurbished & fitted but that will be next year now.
  16. I'm no longer going to be able to make this [emoji35] Had to put 4 tyres on my van & the clutch on the Golf has just started slipping so I'll have to work to pay for repairs [emoji24] Have fun guys [emoji106]
  17. Welcome aboard.... Beware! These things get addictive [emoji23] As for a mechanic, I highly recommend Paul Turner at Sprockets & Spanners in Bradford. After many years of being disappointed with mechanics I managed to find Paul & he's excellent, very reasonably priced for the quality of work he does. He's the only person besides me who I trust to work on my car.
  18. Rusty bottom bolts stopped play the other day, so just waiting on new bolts so I can get the old ones cut off & fit the coilovers/powerflex top mounts.
  19. Black parcel shelf, black lower glovebox & black drivers side lower dash plastics if you have them mate [emoji106]
  20. Looking forward to this, never been up the strip before [emoji16]
  21. Another couple of pieces of the jigsaw come together
