  1. I don't have power in the garage so I can't get a trickle charger which would be the best solution, so I'll just disconnect it when I'm not using it & if the alarm/imobiliser starts giving me grief them I'll get that disconnected too
  2. Cool, it'll save me killing another battery lol
  3. Yours looks good as it stands mate. I need to learn how to use a machine polisher as the paint on mine is shocking. There's no rust at all but the paint is awful, looks like it's had a blow over at some point too. Mulberry is by far the best colour we got in the uk, I wish we got Ginster yellow thou fans I love that colour!
  4. I'm not into the whole "Stance" thing either as I like to drive my car but I do like there to be no more than 20mm from the top of the tyre to the arch as it just looks perfect. I dare say yours will be easier on the old pot holes & speed bumps though. What size adapters did you end up finally going for?
  5. Looks awesome mate. The wheels sit nice, just needs to be a bit lower
  6. does anybody think there will be a problem if I leave the battery off for a couple of weeks the re connect it when I want to start it? When i'm using the car weekly the battery stays charged but if I leave it for a few weeks (3-4) then the battery gets drained.... I've already put 2 batteries on & I don't want to have to buy another.
  7. Hi all, My front drivers seat has started to wear through & the bolster isn't great, I have a spare passenger seat that I'm taking out of the GTi I'm scrapping & would like to use it to sort the drivers seat in my VR6. Does anybody know anywhere that would be able to take the seats apart & re build/re trim? Cheers Jamie
  8. Car unfortunately..... I wouldn't be able to cope with an 8 month old full time without the Mrs Daveyboy. I've almost convinced her that we should buy land & build a garage with a house attatched lol
  9. I've been given permission that the next house we live in (Hopefully the one we buy) I can choose by garage/garden before anything else
  10. I'll just charge the battery & start it every week..... I must find out what's draining the battery as it's a brand new one that's been run completely flat in 4 weeks. I'm thinking it's the alarm.
  11. I use willtheyfit.com as you type the sizes in you're thinking of & it gives you the rolling radius/how far in or out everything would move.
  12. Yeah, 5yrs ago when I lived at home me & my dad laid a level base 5m x 8m so that I could work on my cars on a flat base. It's behind 7ft gates so it's all private & safe..... The only problem is I now live 7 miles away so I need to use full days when I'm allowed out to play on the car lol At the moment it's got 3/4 of a Mk3 Golf GTi on axle stands waiting for me to get enough time to cut it up & get it to the scrappy.
  13. I wish it was a double garage so I didn't have to take it over to my parents everytime I need to take the wheels off lol
  14. I've run 20mm hub centric spacers on the rear of my VR6 with no problems. Are you sure they're for a VW with a 57.1 centre bore?
  15. That's what I thought mate, it's dry in the garage so don't have to worry about that.
  16. Hi all. Due to my upcoming wedding & a few suppliers changing the date when they want paying, the money I had set aside to do the ABS on my Golf has to be used so I'm going to have to lay her up until May. She's parked in the garage, the battery is dead so I've disconnected that & will remove it from the car for charging. Is there anything else you recommend doing? She's been stood for 4 weeks now & will be stood for at least another 8..... BLOODY WEDDING!!!!!! Cheers Jamie
  17. I haven't seen Krull for years. I've got the original transformers the movie & the complete collections of M.A.S.K, Visionaries, Pole Position & Battle of the Planets all on DVD..... I need to balance out the Peppa Pig & Fifi cartoons lol
  18. As I've got a day home looking after Alannah I thought I'd introduce her to David Bowie as the Goblin King & watch labyrinth. My wife to be hates the film and says it explains a lot about me & my mates What old school films do you watch with your kids when the Mrs is out?
  19. Is it? I bet it's easier to find a new gearbox than a shift tower though lol
  20. ^^^ good call Nex, I never thought of that.
  21. Was just about to pm you as there's a set of 15mm adapters on ebay now
  22. You can put it in gear with the engine running, without using your clutch & there's no drive at all?? Sounds like the gearbox has lunched itself, if it was a drive shaft it wouldn't go into gear without the clutch being pressed.... And if it was the clutch it wouldn't go into gear at all.
