cbmotorsport replied to russj249's topic in I.C.E, Security an Electrical
happy days, i know when i fitted my heated recaros, the loom came from a left hand drive car so the switches were back to front! . glad there all in and working now yes they do draw quite a bit of current lol -
glad to hear it, im pretty sure they are abs wires, can you trace where the wires go through the archand check where the plugs are in the engine bay?

my bad! serves me right for not looking at the date. -
bit of a thread hijack, but looking for a piece of advice from those who have built turbo vr6 lumps before, in my experience tubular pulse manifolds are best for quicker turbo spool up, so what would people recommend ? either build a SS tubular or buy a cast one. help appreciated

the pipe that runs to and under the washer bottle, goes to a vacuum accumulator for the interior airflow control, (if you have air con) it controls the flap for recirculating inside air or drawing from outside, its on the innerwing behind the arch liner, im pretty sure the other side of that valve is meant to be connected to the brake servo vacuum line, hope this helps as i dont have much experience with the shrick setup!

cbmotorsport replied to rsweeney's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
fill the resevoir up, have a friend pump the pedal lots of times, get them to hold it down whilst you open the bleed nipple, close it back up, have them keep pumping a few times, hold it down, undo bleed niple and repeat until clutch pedal feels good -

you dont have to add fuses, the big colour junction boxes are behind every dash of a mk3, and the earth terminal cluster is up on the right underneath the drivers side, its plug and play, no adding of fuses or relays -
take the ignition live from the back of the fusebox, use a multimeter and im sure at the top of the fusebox (where the electric window thermal fuse it) is a din rail that is ignition live feeds.

the 2 pin plugs closer to the scuttle panel look like they are abs sensor wires, follow the wiring back from the inner arch and see if they are connected. the second picture of the 4 pin plug looks like it connects to the fan control module under neath the header tank. the airbag fault could be a number of things, such as terminal 30 low voltage i.e if the battery was disconnected or went flat. quickest way to diagnose will be plug it in and see what codes it brings up. if you can get the codes up on here i may be able to point you in the right direction. hope this helps

Knocking noise from the rear 4motion
cbmotorsport replied to spadam's topic in Syncro, R32 and 4motion
you say you replaced drop links, did you replace the upper roll bar bushes? also, maybe something rattling around within the rear panelling? -
sounds like a contact in the clocks breaking down under heat bud, may be repairable ,may be easier to find another set of clocks with the same mileage on.

hi guys, again thanks for the comments its nice to have people that appreciate what im doing! regarding the roof skins, performance trim were my first port of call ,but it seems they have ceased trading, so i will be speaking to a couple of guys i know in the composites side of prodrive and renault forumula 1. basically im going to buy a new roof skin from TPS and have a mould made from that , then hopefully me and the composite bloke can start making a few up and selling them,so i will keep everyone posted on that as and when it happens. ive done a little bit more to the golf today, remove -
tried now im on 14 and still wont let me, hopefully one of the admins will chime in before i eat my fingers.

Thanks for the support guys. Ill do my best to keep it updated as much as i can . Ive also got to build a set of chassis rollers once ive got the axles and cage done, so i can flip it over and cut out the sills and any other rust that i may find. Im very very tempted to cut the roof skin out and replace with a proper carbon fibre one what does everyone think? -

cheers dude im hoping to have it done this time next year,as work commitments etc stop me from working on it every day, along with the good old british weather ! i could have it done for march, but that would be without doing everything i want to, im not desperate to get it back on the road so i can spend the time doing everything ,and doing it right first time. to start off with im hoping for 300 horse unless funds allow me to forge the engine and go a little bit crazy with other stuff, if they do, then im aiming for 500+ . but time will tell on the funding situation -
The immo box is not part of clocks on a mk3 , its behind and to the left of them on a seperate bracket, using vag com, get into the car and do the following once vag com is open and connected [select] [25 - Immobilizer] in there you will see a section that says something like 'coding' i forget exactly what it is , there will be a 5 digit pin starting with a 0. next, Close Controller INSTALL THE NEW ECU then [select] [25 - Immobilizer] [Login - 11] 4-digit PIN Enter zero followed by the 4-digit PIN. For example, if your PIN is 1234, enter 01234. (THIS NUMBER IS THE 5 DIGIT NUMBER YOU GAIN

this might sound like a stupid question, have you checked the bulbs? , when you pull the switch back does the main beam warning symbol light up in the centre of the clocks? also, worth checking that there are no loose cables to the actuall switch unit itself, to remove the steering cowling there are 3 screws . if its not that then i think there is a relay for them, check to see if thats clicking. hope this helps.

back to the world of the golf, today has been another day of GSD> (Get S**t Done ) . the car is now just a bare shell apart from windscreen and the front subframe ive left the subframe in so that i can mount the 4mo box to the lump and line it up so i can fabricate the gearbox mount and measure up for the solid front mount , which will also straighten the engine up so that the 4mo prop will run level, once ive done that and made the mounts for the prop, i can mount the rear subframe . once that is done its time to finish prepping the engine bay and inside of the shell ready for the cage, a -

so , back in the safe surrounds of Badgers gardens, i set to work remove every damaged panel and fully stripping the interior, took me a few days ,but its all worth it ! as you can see there was a fair amount of damage, she hit me pretty hard! i think this is why i shouldnt be left alone with power tools, cutting out these panels revealed quite a lot of rust and previous filler , so im glad it happend then i took my favourite tool and made this as a basic structure this was made to mount the syncro axle too, later pictures reveal that most of this MIGHT have to be removed the mak -

forgive me for sounding like a complete tool, why cant i post classifieds ? do i need to have a minimum post limit or something? need to get shot of all these mk3 bits that are cluttering my CARservatory . LOL many thanks

Have you got access to vag-com? You need to do it with that, aslong as your key matches your immo box then you can pair the ecu to it.
