    Ha I wish I had the answers to everything!!!!!!! I’d be a very rich man if I did. No it’s just you ask questions I have experience of!! As for the hater falling down, I’m guessing your new gear knob has a neck, if you fold down the leather to make a hole about the same size as the neck on your gear knob, it will fit over it and keep it held up. Again, this is what I did and it works a treat!! Hope it helps.

    Just unscrew the gear knob, thats all I did, then folded the leather over at the top, got it stitched and it fits over the base of my new gear knob

    The problem is, WE value the cars more than Joe public. People see an old 2.8ltr golf. So in their eyes it's thirsty and probably unreliable. It’s only when someone knows about them do we stand a chance!!!! There have been cars with specs similar to your selling for as little as a grand, but then there are again similar cars selling for 2 and a half time that. My car for example has similar spec, a little more in that I have cams and head work done. And it had a longer mot and tax, and I paid £1100. Ask Jim Potter what he just paid for his old car.     No Passat gearboxes with the codes you've mentioned on ebay!!!!!!!!!! That sucks!!!

    So I'm now guessing that the passat 16v gearbox is also ok to use for the final drive, and seeing as they will probably be more common than the corrado G60, it should also be cheaper??!!!.. Off to ebay I go!!

    Don't know? I only know of the 5 speed box. I am thinking of the MK3 diesel though not the later boxes!!!

    Honestly thought there was something different with the 16v' date=' it's not just the final drive you need according to stealth racing. Apparently you need the shaft which has the 4 bolts coming from it too. Don't know if they are the same for all boxes that have the 3.68 in them? I'm sticking to what I know.
