cant reuse stretch bolts as once the bolt has stretched the metal of the bolt has also stretched. defo get it pressure tested as youve covered most of the oil and water related bits . couldnt it be the water jacket on main block that is leaking or cracked thats letting water and oil mix? saw where it had happened on a daihatsu i owned previously
it is still noisy not squealing badly but squeaking , could it be the power steering pump pulley that isnt straight as when looking at it with engine running it appears to look bent but no play in pulley?
i bought a cheapy to start and it was really noisy , yeah i know what your saying will see if this one wears in atall , today seemed normal, a frustrating problem i just hope it settles in as i had no trouble with the old belt on the car that was hugely cracked
noise was after first fitting belt but went after i sprayed it before coming back. i sprayed it again and so far it appears to have gone after driving it today, but its weird that to stop it squealing initially i had to spray it? i bought it from eurocarparts ,expensive belt but really not sure if its the type that has to settle?? i have listened to everythin with screwdriver and seems quite. will update after drivin it for a while to whether noise comes back or not. cheers guys
Neil mawdsley or motor_sportspeed. I recently Bought an inlet pipe with breather pipe attached ( as my breather pipe had broken ) for £35 from this guy decribed as in good working order It arrived a few days later and i noticed from just glancing at it that it was split where the rubber breather pipe attaches to the circular plastic bit. the exact reason mine broke and i was ordering a replacement. i contacted him for a refund but he refused and wants me to send the part back first for him to decide might seem minor but previously i spent out nearly £400 on a gearbox that had no reverse that
please help any ideas? dont wanna drive car if somethings wrong. noise goes when i spray the belt but cant do that forever. belt is conti-tech £35 job and is aligned properly , i cleaned all the pulleys and all are fine - no play.- hard to hear bearing from spinnin by hand prob nothing to do with it but i changed water pump after the fins on old one disintegrated however couldnt get all the broken fins out of cooling system.
cheers i sprayed belt with some stuff that is called corrosion X and it stopped, however after a days running a noise has started where its silent at idle but noisy after 1000rpm. heres the noise http://s1188.photobucket.com/albums/z408/richvr6/?action=view¤t=MVI_8581.mp4
just changed the water pump for an oem one from vw after the old one disintergrated . also changed belt for an expensive continental one as other one had started to fall apart. now its making the most awful noise what can i do ?
(went to start it first time and it started however was lumpy as ht lead was loose. stopped engine to attach ht lead. went to start it and this happened) when i turn the key the ignition turns on and when i turn it all the way i hear a click from the starting motor but doesnt turn engine over atall . tried pushing it whilst in gear and clutch let out incase starter had just stuck but didnt help. tried jump starting but same happens, however bump started it first time. is it a new starter i need ? its a 1997 vr6 - converted from gti to vr6
ah right i is it cause when cold they are programmed to run rich -high idle , then throttlin it just adds more fuel to the mix and wets plugs ? and out of interest how good are the bmc cda air intakes, might have some moeny to spend soon and lookin for a second hand one for my manual vr6 but cant justift the price , least not without knowin how good they are
not a huge problem atall but when cold i have noticed that if i put revs up to about 3500rpm then let pedal go the engines runs like its on 4 cylinders then cuts out - lack of petrol type of feeling. i dont rev it when cold as i like to look after it but noiced it a few months back and today .
just finished doing it no leaks for the time being will order new hose in , how expensive are they ? its on an auto so the hose is longer- has a feed to oil cooler on gearbox
found the source of the water leak , if i cut the very end of this pipe off to remove the bit that is cut and jubilee clip the good bit of hose to the thermostat housing will it be ok ?
really annoying water leak , coolant drops down from max to under min after a days driving. i can see coolant sat ontop of gearbox under secondary water pump area but i have had it off and used sealent around the inside of the rubber hoses that attach to it , used new jubilee clips but still leakin away. will add pic later
