  5. im wanting to change from early type calipers to late type. the early type i have has wear sensors in the pads - will this matter when the later type are fitted? and would i have to bleed the whole system or could i isolate and bleed the front two ?
  6. need to push the front caliper piston in as it has come out to far for me to be able to get the caliper onto the disk. i have tried pushing whilst top is off the reservoir but no luck and have tired with a g clamp. In the proccess snapping the brake wear indicator . do i use a g clamp with bleed nipple undone ? please help i need to fix this today !!
  7. how do i get to the two bolts on the bottom hinge , does the front wing have to come off ? seems bloody hard to get to
  8. ha yeah im scared of whats under there tbh! still got the saggy door to fix but never know , now i have access to a full workshop i might get to have a go at it. any chance when you do the floors you could take some pics ?
  9. wow didnt quite realise how much you where doing on the body work side of things , im going to make a real effort to learn but where did you get the sprayin kit from ? and what welder you using ? done anything on the floor pans or sills ?

  12. spot on it was just catching , so pleased i didnt leave it in reverse but all good now. drives well just have to buy a few bits for it like a breather pipe !
  13. everytime i select reverse all the electrics in the car stop working and as a result the car will stop. any ideas i really want to drive this properly. ( its just been converted from gti to vr6 )
  14. my automatic vr6 has just ripped its second driveshaft boot so im just going to replace the entire driveshaft - probably cv joint that has too much play -, are the manual ones the same as auto ones ? and is it best to but brand new or second hand on ebay
  15. yeah removing alarm systmem this week , absolute pig. how many wires am i going to have to disconnect then connect to originals and how hard is it to do ? dash out job or can i do it with it in ? cheers guys
  16. swapped but still no ignition lights. you'd know that to start the gti you had to use the fob - when i go to do start it and use the fob it just locks the car - where it used to turn ignition lights on
  17. ah im with you didnt read it right , just asking a guy on here about whether i need to change ignition barrel so it works with immobilizer box.
  18. yeah got it,but isnt it just as good to have the chip inside the key rather than attached to the ring ?

  20. just finished , swapped engine loom , relays , ecu and immobiliser box. when it was a gti the only way the ignition could be turned on is by pressing the fob. Now the fob only locks and unlocks the car, and doesnt do anything to the ignition! please help!
  21. ha sorted it , belt was too tight . loosened it off a tiny bit and no more noise - still charges well so not slipping
  22. adjusted slightly and bit better, will any new belt take a few miles to adjust itself?
  23. just replaced the drivebelt with a new one but it seems to be rubbing on the sump. i sprayed some wd40 near that bit to test it was actually that making the noise and yes it stopped for a few mins before returning. how can i stop this cause its a horrible noise and i dont want to knacker my new belt!
  24. great thanks for that im just doing the conversion to vr6 so do you know if the two pumps will swap straight for one another ?
