  2. can i bleedit by going for a drive down the road and really working the brakes, then bleeding system ? a garage said i could as it would work the abs pupm and push any air to the end of the lines
  3. changed brake lines and tightened all unions up. bled system three times including abs pump and master cyclinder but pedal is still really soft and travels miles. any ideas? im using a pressuring bleeder that attaches to battery , pressurises system by feeding it brake fluid to a constant pressure through cap on reservoir
  4. they seem fine hardly any movement. yeah i will check them when brake lines are done and i can got rear wheels on again as its a bit dodgy with car completely on blocks

  6. the knocking noise when braking hard or accelerating is still happening . recently i have done some work on the brakes changing calipers and disks but cant seen anything wrong with them, changed gearbox mount and its helped a fair bit. also changed the rear silencer and centre box for stainless. what the hell could it be ? ATM i am doing brake lines so cant test the braking untill this weekend

  8. checked all the pulleys for play and they are all fine , maybe the smallest amount in the water pump but hardly anything. its a new water pump aswell from someone on here . could it be this or the belt tensioner pulley? really dont know now so stuck ! noise goes away when removing the belt i couldnt see any rubbing and the tension on the belt is fine . here is the noise :
  9. no play in any of them , its a new water pump, the engine had sat for 3 years without running

  11. a rubbing noise is coming from the serpentine belt side of my 24v vr6 . i have changed the belt for an expensive conti-tech belt but still making the noise. what could this be ? next im trying a pulley but not happy that its still making this rubbing noise as if its catching. the belt is on straight

  15. thanks went ahead a few days ago and ordered the £18 one which after paying postage was £35. was just confused as when looking into buying a tensioner puiley there were two types one for 12v and one for 24v
  16. i have the fan and module ready to use on my vr conversion but the fan with the motor on doesnt spin smoothly ? the plastic plug on it has also cracked which could be fixed but no point if the fan is knackered. do i need a new fan and if so do i have to match up a new fan to the existing module ?
  17. how much brake line do you need to replace all lines ? i have 25ft is that enough ? sorry to hijack thread
  18. is there a difference between serpentine belts for OBD1 and OBD2 vr's? wanting a belt for obd2 but i heard something about there being a different number of ribs on them. this is the belt im about to buy http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-parts/engine-parts/belts-chains-and-tensioners/car-drive-belt/?202440405&1&8f70b20c3681329e772672559e039f9556b17534&000108
  19. fair enough mine is an auto so just the brakes to bleed and i can ignore this ?
  20. i take it this is the brake compensator ? when changing all the brake lines do i have to do anything to this like bleed it afterwards etc?
  21. is one roll - 25ft - of copper piping enough to do all the brake lines on the vr ? Its a 5dr if it makes any difference and how long does it take?
  22. when i had engine and gearbox out i did notice it was leaking but didnt have the money to change it. which mount would be best to go for , its an auto so i dont thrash it about but like to give it the beans every now and again. (car is running stgandard setup) so its either oem mount , the vibra techincs road or competition one? bearing in mind all engine mounts i have are standard as yet http://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/vw/golf_jetta_vento_mk_iii/342/VAG875M/lh_rear_gearbox_mount
