  1. It's behind the fuel lines on the left side of the engine bay Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  2. is there not a good chance of blowing the rocker cover gasket, I just run mine in a pipe to a coke can near the wing but I want to change it to a proper tank with a small filter to keep it open to the atmosphere, remember to bung the other side with the air filter on as it's after the maf.Edited, I want to do what you originally said in your first post i think it's the correct and safer way. 3. I drove round with modified insurance with all mods declared, all includes the engine, when I signed the documents asking where the modifications happened I simply wrote "done by my self" the car passed its mots because it didn't matter long as it was safe and the emissions were below the limits, I drive a company car now. My documents are in the post so with any luck they will come back with the correct details. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  4. Well I re wired the grounds and the ecu still won't scan, the car runs and there no miss firing it's very smooth tbh, it's just ruining really rich, think I'm going to look at mega squirt now, I think there's something wrong with my vw ecu. So am I right in saying I can use all my sensor on mega squirt 2 or 3, I won't need things like a trigger wheel as ms2 can use the oem sensor etc.. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  5. What do you mean? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  6. My car will need to been insured as a modified car anyway, insured as a engine swap as there's far more than a engine swap as far as that's concerned, there's a few company's who will understand I'm not going to find then on a comparison site. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk

    Chop shop

They use the safe ways of doing things, lowering cars, just cut the springs lol, I'm not sure I'm a fan it's almost like pimp my ride Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  8. Yeah but the insurance company's are easy to please, remember your paying for insurance lol Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  9. Hmm this is tricky, I put the engine in a while back and never got any receipts from the scrap yard, don't even remember where it came from, I'm going to chance it and send the v5 of with only a cc and engine number amendment and see what happens, got a feeling they will write back asking for proof of road worthiness but I will cross that bridge when they ask for a requirement. And looking into the v5 notes it says you need written proof for vehicle tax class change, but it will remain a privet goods vehicle just a amendment on cc and engine number. 10. Yeah I know how to change the details in the log book, it's the engineers report what I'm unsure about, do I need one and if so where can I get one done? Sorry this is something I never done due to the confusion as well and the dvla are wise now. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  11. Lol I didn't think so, time for a professional bodge lol Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  12. Is this really how the ground part of the wiring looms are put together or have I found a previous owners bodge. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  13. Well as it appears no one cares about the v5 work as I'm the only one trying and apparently no one has past experience and the car is off the road not taxed not insured and sorn so no worrys about been caught I'm not driving. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  14. Yeah plenty of cars selling with different engines to what's stated on the log book, one of my points been even if the car was insured with mods declared wouldn't insurance be void if the car hadn't passed the engineers check is not properly registered. Surly loads of people on this forum have been in my place and registered the new engine with dvla? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  15. or even the new 170hp 2.0tdi engines they pull very well, or chuck a vr6 in there if you can they pull and scream at you.
  16. btw when i was 19 i was paying 1800 for my 1.6, after the swap Adrian flux had all the details declared and my first year at 19 years old was 1300 then the second year with a accident was 1600 so it was cheaper with the VR6
  17. well i would rather pay to do things correctly then i can drive with no worries, did you simply fill in the change of vehicle part of the V5 and send it to swanssssy?? did you not need anything to say the engine has been swapped safely or do they just wait for your MOT to prove that? cheers

    mod hatred!

i hate the cry for attention: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BREAKING-MK3-GOLF-1-4-RAT-DUB-HOODRIDE-EURO-ATS-CUPS-8JFULL-VR6-LEATHER-INTERIOR-/251476522098?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a8d2b3472 I WIN lol on a serious note i HATE supper bright lights behind the wrong lens coming on the other side of the road! i chose not to have xeons on my new car because i think there just too bright as it is.
  19. Hi Guys/Girls, as the title says really, i swapped my VR6 in my mk3 about 3 years ago, it went from a 1.6 to 2.8, now the question i have to ask is what do you guys do with your swaps to make them road legal? basically if I lose my driving licence I will lose my job, so everything will need to be legal before I drive my golf on the road again, I believe its a case of getting my car checked and getting a engineers report and sending it to the dvla but I’m not sure how to go about this. thanks for any help in advance paul
  20. No, you can remove a rubber cap at the top and the cover at the bottom but you won't be able to see anything, iv had two go on me one started to slip then the other I blew up on a stupid gear change, it sounds like a gearbox fault in one gear though.
  21. Well guys, iv tried a few versions of vagcom, 301,401 and vag lite, still can't get it to scan, iv changed every setting on the cable i.e. latency, speed, then even had a mate try with a official cable and registered version of vag com, anyone had problems scanning the ecu? I'm going to check the grounds for the ecu at the weekend but it would be nice to hear if anyone has been here before. Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
  22. Hi all, haven't been on here in a while but I'm putting my vr back on the road, well road legal so I can get to Santa pod and track days :-P Anyways, iv been trying to get vag com to read my ecu iv traced the Kline from the ecu (pin 43) and is connected the obd2 port, I've got a good ground and good 12v source the obd2 port, every time I try scan the ecu I get communication errors, I'm using the new version of the eBay cable with the Windows drivers with vag com lite, anyone have any luck with these cables? Btw my ecu has had it's immobilizer delete by c2 and iv managed to read the air bag but
  23. iv crashed mine twice, i got a bonnet, grill, lights for under 50quid, that's your carbon canister its not a legal requirement here in the uk just search the forum for the correct removal procedure as i believe you need to plug something, get down to a scapy for your parts threes no point getting new parts when the old parts are still perfect for the job
  24. oh i think there still very good thing and set the benchmark a few years ago with most media related things. i just think now there taking the piss and getting people to buy there items on the fact its apple and apples good, it is but theirs better and cheaper options now
  25. i never got why we dont make more bio fuels, i can get bio diesel for my pug but its a long drive and its not much cheaper, but petrol cars can be run on alcohol after a bit of work and we all know were good at making that.
