  1. Is the problem with the hoses that the fronts are screw fit and yours are banjo or vice versa?
  2. cheapest would be an ebay seller in USA called EAP, he advertises genuine timing chain setup for a converted ~£126. Then you just take the chance on customs whether they add 20% onto it.
  3. On all of the parts use the correct type of sealant, you know, coolant resistant on the water pump and thermo housing, oil resistant on the oil cooler seals. The water pump and oil pump are exchange parts so if you get a genuine one they'll give you some money back, though the OEM oil cooler is more expensive than a generic one, the OEM water cooler worked out a bit cheaper when I did mine. vwspares.co.uk are good on parts and prices, ECP can be good on some parts and you will ususally get a branded part.
  4. Thats a google image pic and also a mk2, depicts the mounting quite well though.
  5. I ordered a hella third brake light from them before, it was the only place I could find it. They are in Germany though so can take a while to ship.
  6. Another black magic into the fold, the wheels do look nice.
  7. Yea I'll be doing it myself, I've already done the cooling, electrical and oil system, the clutch, chains and head gasket are all that's originally left now aside from the head, block and internals. I've decided that I'll stick with stock power and N/A for the time being. Just tackled a spot of flaked paint and water ingress underneath it behind a rear light today, all sorted and lovely again now Not the highest quality of finish but its behind the rear cluster and the actual protection quality of the job has passed my high standards. I'm a person where if it isn't good enough I'll do it ove
  8. I don't see what that would do because the smallest part of the bottleneck (the throttle itself) is still exactly the same size.
  9. tbh I dont even know, when i scan through the mfa to check temperature its usually early 20s
  10. I have begun the process of slowly gathering all the parts required to do the clutch, full chains and guides, head gasket and all the other little gaskets like rocker cover. When I have accumulated everything I'll then do all of this in one job, none are immediately necessary though the rocker gasket does weep a tiny bit just like every other VR6 I've ever seen, but its coming up to 100k now and I would like them all re done for some preventative maintenance.
  11. They didn't make the ride any harsher for me and I was already on coilovers. Just doing the rear axle will make the car turn in better, I would recommend doing the wishbone front and back bushes too if you do the rear axle as the softer OEM fronts may just take up more slack with the stiffer poly rears. Best to match the rear beam and wishbones for predictable handling.
  12. I used chemical guys fabric clean and it worked very well, also leaves a feint lemony aroma.
  13. I've seen plenty re use them but mine were pretty buggered by the time I got them off, I was not far off tying to cut it, due to age and seizing. A new set is a few quid, I ended up replacing every nut and bolt I took off for the bushes and ball joints.
  14. Vibratechnics fast road all round. Don't mix and match different types as they kill each other much quicker.
  15. I just gave my now fiancée a diamond ring, should shut her up for a good few years lol
  16. I unsoldered and re soldered mine as they both blew, to make it easier (& likely to never blow again) I used LEDs instead of incandescent and used small lengths of wire in between, tacking the LEDs in the holes of the holder with a dot of hot glue.
  17. Anyway if its CRANK I found 021 906 433 A, that is the newest part number under Corrado. There is 021 906 433 C under Golf and usually a higher letter just means a revision of the same part. If you google that it also says that 021 906 433 C is the same aswell, so up to you which you look for
  18. Nice they really do look like BBS's
  19. Yes you can from underneath but if you want to visually confirm the flap is working you can't do it without at least splitting the fan section from the matrix section.
  20. The flap is on the passenger side, I've just done my heater matrix replacement! But you can't just disconnect it from under and pull it out, you would pretty much have to take the dash out as theres clips all the way round and things in the way. If you tried to pull it out just from under the dash then you'll probably (99% will) break something and have to take it all out anyway. Ball ache yes but having just done it a fortnight ago its fresh in my mind and I don't think it would be possible to do.
  21. Ha you know what I did take a before and after but it just looks the same on the pic apart from a bit darker black but it person there's a marked improvement.
  22. Cleaned my leather steering heel today with auto glym leather cleaner then their leather care cream. I chose this one because I read it doesn't leave a greasy residue. It's 9 years old and went a bit hard and shiny and slippy, the products have brought it back an it looks and feels like new now, much softer and more grippy, should have done it ages ago. It did leave a tiny bit of a hand cream feel but after buffing it up a few times over the course of 48 hours as per instructions that has gone now.
