  1. Is that a for a genuine oil cooler and seals? If so are you getting a subsidised price on it as they are an exchange part. Plus if you have a basic toolkit it is VERY easy to do yourself I reckon it would cost less for the genuine cooler, seals, oil resistant sealant, oil, filter and (if going for a full flush) 3 bottles of G13 to do yourself on a saturday. The only out of the ordinary tool you need is a big ass 36mm socket to take the filter housing cap off and a 32mm socket for the oil cooler cap. Plus you'd know it was done correctly.
  2. Picked this little lot up from the dealer today, I couldn't find the plastic type rocker cover gasket anywhere but dealer, JWIS chains look really nice, don't get a lot for £140 though On the recommendation of Pete I sourced a Valeo clutch kit, rang around everywhere to try and order one but couldn't, then went to my local motor factors and got one for £87, bargain! I have a Victor Reinz headgasket coming for £19 that I found in a parts shop that buys up old dealer stock. Next on the list is genuine tensioners and guides, have to be gen flywheel bolts as they're dealer only, I'll go for
  3. Ive seen 2 McLaren MP4-12C but havent been in the position to get a pic of them either time which is a shame, one in the orange you see in every pic and the other in a hot pink magenta colour, yak. Saw this today when I went to pick some parts up, if you really know your cars you'll only need the first pic to know what it is, there's only 33 in UK.
  4. I am after a long head bolt, if anyone has an old set they used (obviously cant use them twice) can I have one? Cheers
  5. Well the Italians did have one And the Metropolitan Police said they were but never did in the end
  6. Everything I read with regard to head gasket says you have to make sure the surfaces are uber level for the metal gasket as its a third of the thickness, hence the compression bump.
  7. Right, must be people refering to having ARP studs instead then. So the OEM 20 head bolts is all that's required to fasten the head back on.
  8. Just looking into this myself and got the same result with the GSF kit and ECP, I am looking for a victor reinz headgasket and according to the GSF website they stock the victor reinz headgaskets. I'm probably going to have to get a rocker cover seal from VW as mine has given up slightly aswell as intake upper and lower, and tbh would only use a genuine seal on the t-stat housing as I don't want to have to replace that seal any time soon after doing this job if a cheapie gives up. VW headgasket will likely be victor reinz, the same but twice the price. But otherwise I would say get genuine eve
  9. Mine came away a bit right up to the screen and I got it stuck back just with super glue, it was only on the leading edge so is invisible either side of the screen.
  10. Just to clarify as I read my post and it isn't even clear to me (lol) I replaced the oil cooler and now have nice pink coolant.
  11. Oil cooler losing its integrity a slight amount (so slight you wouldn't necessarily notice any oil or coolant loss) caused muddy slime in my system like that, it took ages to get rid of it all, 1 flush every day for 5 days.
  12. When you do get round to sorting the locks you could do it cheaply and easily yourself, just get a load of the inserts and play around with them until you find the right combo for your key, they are all numbered so you would basically work out the code of your locks like ie 15273512, you can then re blade every lock to work. lemon squeezy.
  13. Yea its not as deep and you need the shorted parts to accompany, and if you do hit it it wont just scratch or dent like the stock one, its made of alloy and will shatter. Highly unlikely but its worth noting. Edit Theres a sticky in Engine Tuning documenting this very procedure.
  14. If you need a wear sensor wire you can just solder the wires together from one cut off any pad with the same plug to form a circuit, they are a closed loop system so would bypass the pads indicator.
  15. Like the re designed window sticker much better than the old one.
  16. so what does the inside look and feel like?
  17. liquid metal epoxy could hold a repair piece in place, they're quite strong nowadays.
  18. Bloody hell if the medium is suited to something granada sized may have to look for a small one.
  19. What did you use in the end on the interior then? What should the rear seat latch thing look like? As its inside the car and under the carpet could you not make a small piece of metal the shape it should be then tack it into place under the carpet? Would be invisible with the seat in.
  20. If you wanted OEM ones for the wishbones I would go for the solid wishbone rear ones which I think are from a 3.2 TT, then just normal VR6 ones for the wishbone fronts, the TT rears don't have slots in like the OEM VR6 ones. TBH I would put powerflex in the wishbones aswell as you don't need a press to install the new ones.
  21. Best bet would be to get the tape measure out. Good find though as I was looking into possibly getting one if I need a wrist op as my car will be laid up for up to 3 months and would be good to keep leaves, muck, cats and bird shit off I thought they would be a lot more than this. I was envisioning having to wrap my car in a king size fluffy bed sheet to protect the paint then bungee a tarp over the top.
  22. No you just have the wrong ones, there are 2 kits for the VR6, older style is screw on and newer style have banjo ends.
  23. You only have to remove 6 bolts (and a few arch liner screws and re-usable plastic rivets) to get this result. Easy peasy.
  24. ebay item 360543362483 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1997-2002-VW-Jetta-Golf-VR6-2-8L-V6-AFP-Engine-Genuine-OEM-Timing-Chain-Kit-NEW-/360543362483?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item53f20f1db3
