  1. this is older but illustrates it better because its metal so the colour contrasts, the black should be fully removed, yours being flush it will have shrunk it should be plumped up and proud, like this
  2. yea just try not to gouge either of the mating surfaces when removing the rubber

  4. both the front and back oil cooler seals can be replaced
  5. Yes only the engine parts are different, don't know about the differences in rad fans
  6. You can get a much cheaper one, about 10% of the price, but I heard bad things about cheap heater matrices so went genuine as I didn't want to do it twice. Just did the heater matrix on my A3 8P that was £180 but at least not a dash out job, just a glovebox out and a lot in job.
  7. No part no but I can tell you it will be about £150 from VW
  8. Well, our journey has come to an end, the new owner picked the VR up today, hated to see it go but loved listening to it leave.
  9. I don't know this for sure but I'm sure that people got the wider belt then razor bladed one or two of the ribs off to make it the required number of V's wide.
  10. tbh I couldnt either, then while i was buggering about with something else, someone in the garage just popped it out.
  11. Victor reinz headgasket, elring for head bolts and crank seal, genuine for chains guides and tensioners. Genuine is more money but the timing system is the most critical part of the whole thing so it's worth the extra
  12. If your going for a catch can you could just put another hose to the throttle body hose and have it sealed properly
  13. It's supposed to be a closed system that recirculates the air from the crankcase, as the maf has already accounted for it in the Ecu fuelling calculations etc.
  14. The chains are a piece of piss really, all of the sprockets have timing marks so it's really straightforward and user friendly. I think the best thing to say is that you be really methodical and if you want to check it you can easily hand crank the engine and see if everything still lines up after 2 rotations
  15. For the rubbers gummi pfledge is good stuff
  16. get it sniffed to check for exhaust in the coolant, caps are cheap get a new one just so you know its not that either
  17. If you drive one back yo back, it isn't, but the power is still there just not a feather touch right at the top of the pedal, I only noticed this in hindsight though
  18. They are a pain in the arse on the mk3 you need to do an abs purge on vag com
  19. Didn't know about them when I was tired of mine slipping and sliding, nicer looking than that anti slip mat you get from home bargains that I used
  20. And halfway down this page http://www.vr6oc.com/forum/topic/27853-my-black-magic-vr6/page-9
