  1. Haha , im up for Brands hatch as its local , maybe we should have a poll on tracks so we can then look at dates throughout the year.
  2. Try contacts in the switch , on one of my old cars the window would go up and down and then stop every now and then, turned out the contacts inside the switch were bad. Not sure if its your problem though but could be worth a shot.
  3. Good idea , would i then just wire into the back of the fuse box ,it looks like on mine there may even be some un used slots.
  4. I need to find a point i can take a 12v only on when ignition is on from the engine bay. Anyone have any ideas? Also when wiring inside where is a good place to find ignition on power supply ? Thanks to anyone in the know!

  8. Im thinking of MS because id like to learn to map and im not going to try and go turbo straight away. If i was doing it just to drive the car so to speak id go with C2. You can also get launch control built into MS

Yea you do want the engine to get up to temperature or it will be like its running on choke the whole time, i changed my stat a few days ago and amount of throttle needed to cruise is noticeably less so should be getting better fuel mileage.   10. Good info on the thread, on one of my old cars i just tapped my sump and used a universal bit and some high temperature pipe for my oil drain. I just wouldnt give a china charger a go, I know jims having good success but id be too worried some impeller might find its way inside. Also depending on how confident you are with mapping and installation you can get a prebuilt megasquirt for about £370.

  12. Just to update i managed to find one in stock cost me £9.50 including the o ring and re used the gasket to engine block. There is 87 deg , 80 deg and you can get a low 70 deg one depending if you want your engine to run cooler. Engine goes up and stays at right temperature now. I was lucky that my housing had no cracks in it at all.
  13. Im confused, that sounds like absolute bs to me. Have you put in a thermostat yet? The engine is mapped so that on cold temperatures it runs a lot richer which is why your fuel mileage would be so bad. Put a thermostat in the engine will always stay at the correct temperature and problem solved. What has head gasket got to do with anything? Sounds like he is trying to rip you off to me. I also have bad fuel mileage at the moment as my thermostat has gone. My engine only ever will get to temperature if i stay in slow traffic for about half an hour.   14. Has to be the best season yet with all the new teams as well, prices arent too bad at the moment either thinking of possibly getting tickets just to watch the practice at silverstone.
  15. Looks like great progress , like the filter placement. Not sure but think it runs lean when you blip the throttle maybe due to the response time of the wideband, think if its steady under load then its fine.

    Idle should be fine , my friend has 288 cams in his corsa and no cutting out on idle.

  19. Any idea what the input current is to the coil? Thanks for the info.
  20. Anyone got the specifications on the stock amplifer, and standard dwell time ect so I can do some calculations. Also kev when you said you where running them at 2500ms , was this the dwell time you where using ?
  21. All about the driver mod. Ive seen on board footage of a 172 standard beating a 172 turbo and sure there are 100s more out there of 'lesser' cars beeating the better. Main thing you need to sort out id imagine is suspension set up.
  22. The formulaes for spark generation are : Energy = (0.5 x inductance ) x current^2 Inductance is a property of the coil dependant on the material used I believe. So therefore more energy can be generated in the spark by lowering inductance ( different coil pack ) or increasing the current. So then you need to look at how current is generated. Current = (Voltage x Dwell time) / Inductance Dwell time is the time gap between sparks being needed. The current continally builds up over this period.   24. The voltage going through the coil is already its maximun of 14v. The ECU sends a control voltage operating a transistor switch which puts the full 14v through the coil.This cant be increased anymore.
