  1. Me and Katie will be coming, hopefully it will be dryer next year!
  2. Lol!! Well done fella, mines a coffee, white with 1 on Monday please!
  3. And the thick wire you replaced, it does go from the + output on the alternator to the + terminal on the starter (the same terminal with + from the battery)?
  4. John, it shouldn't matter which alternator is fitted, they will both produce 14v + when charging. I agree with russj249, check bulb. Check the output o the alternator from the rear of it, rather than across the battery-see if that makes any diffference.
  5. The only difference is between the aue and bde, I think the rest of the range is the same.
  6. By the sounds of it your going to want a -40mm kit, speed bump friendly and not too harsh a ride. You could go lower, but it depends on the sort of bumps you want to go over!
  7. Lol!!!!! I like his way on thinking... Always room for beer!
  8. As always, happy to help a friend in need!
  9. Engine code? I have 1 for an aue engine.
  10. Nice! If you use a hacksaw, remove the blade and put the blade through the hole, put it back on the hacksaw, you should be able to make 2 cuts in the sleeve to knock it out.
  11. Yes that metal sleeve does have to be removed. Use a big hammer! So your going charged? Turbo or supercharger?
  12. Yep, seems to be working on my phone, will check on pc later.
  13. Thanks guys! So, the manifold was made before this next part, as i had to check for room in the engine bay. The engine needed building up with the headspacer, gearbox, modified head coolant take-off (to delete egr valve) and sort the front engine mount out. Head off. Modified front engine mount bracket. Then, all built up. The loom is a love child of the mk3 vr6 and 4motion looms. Which, in all honesty, wasn't too bad to do. Mainly because i left it to Jake to finish!! (And then i tidied it up!)
  14. I'm struggling to get my user posts up by clicking on the link. It keeps coming up with other peoples. It does it most of the time on my iphone4, and its now doing it on my laptop. Help please Pete! Ta
  15. Are you using a mk3 vr6 ecu? If so, you'll have to use the yellow and blue sensors off the 12v. I had a problem with my conversion with using the mk4 temp sensor.
  16. There's not going to be many 12v vr's left soon! Should be good though. Just out of interest, how much is the lump costing?
  17. The block test tests for combustion leaks in the engine, I.e. if the h/g has failed or you have a cracked block/head. Does it use oil? It could be rings, does it smell oily?
  18. Best thing to do, if you have it, is to block test it, with the blue liquid and tool thing you can get in a kit, have a search on eBay mate.
  19. And i let Jake and Mark loose with a grinder on Harry! I think someones got a picture of this somewhere....... Anyway, with the engine and gearbox together and on the workshop floor, i had to come up with a solution to fit the mighty Holset super hx40 in, behind the 24v lump, to clear the mk3 engine mounts, transfer box, and retain the 24v inlet manifold... not that easy seeing as though the turbo was rather large! I used a 12v spa manifold i had, to get a rough idea of the space and positioning. I had a pair of flanges machined out and set to work making the manifold. Finished. More
  20. Right, where to start.... Harry, in standard trim just wasn't going to cut the mustard. I had loads of parts from my previous mk3 (r.i.p) which were getting in the way, so i plan was formed, and with the help from my good friends (a.k.a my redneck buddies), Harry went through 'the change'. A 24v 2.8l 4 motion engine was purchased from Mr Potter, 2mm headspacer, 4" maf housing and 630cc software, implanted into the 12v ecu from United motorsports, and various other parts were bought. The plan was top secret, and to be accomplished by the Janspeed rolling road day that Bungy had organised. Harry
  21. Hmm, looks like this needs updating. It's quite out of date now, Harry's grown a pair!
  22. I'm 28, had my current vr for just over a year (after robbing it from Katie!). My previous vr was bought when I was 24? (can't remember...), and owned that one for 4 years I think...
