You made much headway with the syncro/haldex conversion ?? Im in the process of doing the same with my vento, got most of the parts from my donor 4mo but really strugglin to find rear axle, i managed to get the axle itself on the bay for £20 so whipped that up now just gotta try find trailing arms etc. Good progress so far and good luck with the build :-)

Hello m8 this may sound stupid (but hey u gotta ask to learn rite), When you fitted the 24v lump did you have to alter the rear mount as the mk4's run the dog mount ?? Or do the mk3 mounts bolt up to the block ok ?? Any help would be ideal as i shall be droppin my lump in soon when ive pulled it out donor lol, Cheers m8, Lee

Hi guys this mite sound like a stupid question but does any1 know wat metal and thickness the cars are made from ?? Ive got to do some repairs to mine and ive been told that ideally i wanna use the same type/thickness of metal. I was looking at 2mm sheet steel ?? Cheers

Car will only go with bump-start
palmer replied to wardycatt's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
Mine did the same thing m8, I changed the ignition switch and it was fine. But i have also had to change starters because of the same problem. I would start with the ignition as its ur cheapest option of the 2. Hope it helps bud. Lee -
Yea m8 they love presents every now and then lol

Looks sweet m8 the colour is insane lol, S3 rims really suit it. Got urself a goodn there..... :-)

Jus had a look on the dutch build site......I completely misread it lol. the pic i thought was of both axles is jus a syncro axle and a modified syncro axle to fit haldex MY BAD lol. i shall start the hunt for an axle :-/, Cheers for all ya help dude
-
Ok m8 i shall delve into a lil more. I had a look on dutch-build and they have a syncro to 4mo conversion. Not gonna lie the axles look identical bar the obvious diff between syncro an haldex. So im thinking the whole rear will fit on with abit of fab work ??

Yea i was gonna stay FWD an build low comp turbo engine but then i found the whole donor car for to much of a bargain to let go :-). Ok bud cheers i will keep it in mind and see how it goes. Wat did u do at the hub end ?? as the shafts are different sizes arnt they ??
-
Fair enough i will just get the shaft sorted then. im gonna go with the 4mo box as im fittin the whole runnin system from the 4mo so i get all the haldex goodness lol. Cheers for ya help though m8 its appreciated

Just a quick 1, does any1 know if 4mo front subframe/hubs etc will bolt on mk3. The only reason i ask is that i will be using my 4mo as a donor for my vento and wondered if it would be easier to just transfer the whole lot ova save gettin the driveshafts shortend etc. Any info would be ideal as if it will fit i can start sellin old parts to help fund any lil bits i may require. Cheers, Lee

Pretty much everything as i believe the heads are completely diff on the 24v so will not bolt on. Id try an find a mk4 that has been rear ended an grab the lot m8

Cant say i noticed any bushes on mine when i stripped the dash out, there may be some room to adjust in the linkage ?? There could well be some sort of bush/bearings internally but i would assume that wouldnt be an easy fix !!

palmer replied to paceo's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems

So just thought i would put some pics up of how she stands at the moment............ Strip down Mmmmmm nice and dirty :-/ Bare block My improvised lock for the crank Who needs heat and a windy gun when u have a 12 foot pole Shiny parts :-) Shiny rear axle Pretty much as she stands at the moment, Just in the process of putting polybushes in and then will start on the rebuild which may take a while as im getting the mrs a 4mo at the end of the month for her Bday :-)

rear beam brake bias valve
palmer replied to vr6turbo's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
I am having real troubles removing my bias valve, the fixings are all rounded off :-(. My main question is, wat is the best way to get it off and is it even worth bothering about it. I have a 93 vento it has abs so is it actually needed or can i bypass it (mainly so i can jus rip it off). Any help would be very appreciated, Cheers -
Im hoping sum1 can help, I will be replacing all my bushes at the wknd and just wondered if any1 new/had any part numbers for all the nuts/bolts. I figured as im putting nice new poly bushes in I may aswell put new bolts to go with them. I was hoping 1 of you had the numbers save me going into VW and tryin to explain all the bits i need. Any help/info is very much appreciated... Cheers

Ideal m8 sounds like a plan :-)...........Is there a certain part number or anything for it ??

Ok so not updated for a very long time although there isnt much to update lol. Stripped the car a few months ago as the floor was soaked an found a swimming pool in passenger footwell Sorted that out an now found a couple of leaks/holes that i will be getting sorted asap. Had a nice run upto UD 2012 the last wknd although on the way home part of the gear linkage snapped so had to do a quick bodge in micheal wood services ( M5 ) to get me home. Ordered new parts from Volkswagen and didnt cost as much as i had thought lol. Fitted this morning and gears do feel better as there was a washer missi
