I did a suitcase delete on my golf just got the bits from Jetex 2x45 degree bends 1x500mm pipe and a few clamps to hold it all in place mark it all up weld it up and just use one sleeve of clamp and some putty on the 1 joint where the suitcase used to join job done for less than £60 and the original jet tip tail pipe slides over the to of the 2.5" pipe so looks stock ish and sounds lovely

Ah Pete. I was expecting some discolouration, just not a mm or 2 of soot.

I've had a read that rich running and crap fuel can cause this too.

Book states fuel as 95, not 97, so that's what she has, but I don't put known brands in, she has the 95 from the costcutter petrol station down the road. Never notice any difference when the occasional tank of BP goes in.

On another note, the new crank sensor is preventing hot start issues, so that's a good result.

Cheers for the reply either way matey. Hope you've sorted the belt.

All sounds like normal things happening after a new exhaust it fitted to be honest and probably unrelated to your other issues.

I've just read this 30 minutes after having it fitted. Thank you for the reply matey.

I'm glad I clarified with them prior to leaving the car there. They were under the impression that it was to be a strait through with a non resonated back box. After asking them for a middle box, They put one in.

    Mine has gone on to a galaxy mk2 with 24v 2.8 VR6.

It's loud. Very loud. Not exactly what I wanted to be honest. You know the deep drone you have from louder strait through exhausts?... that's what it sounds like at lower revs. I can live with it, but the Galaxy is the only car we own and I'm the only driver, so I don't know how the kids or specifically, my partner will act when they're in it.

That said, the extra 12 valves certainly make the car sound so much better when flooring it. That notorious R32 rasp steps in just after 4k revs. Very addictive.

It sounds overly loud when in narrow residential areas cruising at 30 or 20.

I've also attracted unwanted attention from a van full of travellers who went miles out of their way and back on themselves trying to follow me. Last glimpse I had after losing them down country lanes and turning off at a junction, was their van doing the better part of 70 or more past the road I dived into.

Hiya mate, not had one on my vr-yet, but had one made for my old hybrid turbo'd tdi pd bora. Have to say it wasnt too bad-i had a milltek decat downpipe that the fabricator was also more than happy to fit and work around. Very good service to be honest. Totally custom too which is good. Probably be my first port of call when i get round to doing my vr to be honest. But of course, im mo professional welder so cant really comment on the build quality etc, but never had a problem in 2 or 3 years with it.

The Monk got a reaction from VR6Pete in Had to paid to be towed home - this is worth knowing
Likewise. Only cars I've ever had to have towed/recovered were both my mk3s. Both spent two occasions on the back of an AA truck. One was also towed a few miles. Both lowered more than 50mm.

Unless their T&C have changed without informing me, I'm still with them and will continue until the above happens. That said, I may nip onto their website and check.

What you say is true, Rich.
I forgot to mention that I did this on the way back, in 1st and 2nd gear after not running on that rolling road, merely a spectator. A spectator because I wanted to avoid issue.
So I was a good boy and ended up punished anyway lol.

So I swapped the coil packs around. Faulty cylinders worked and those that were working, misfired and threw codes.

I don't normally exceed 5k revs. Coil packs look dead and like the ones that the car rolled out the factory with.

Exceeded 5k revs multiple times on the way back. Stressed old components.

Nice to be around so many VR6s again. Been almost 4 years. All of them looked great.
Shame my car did nothing and then decide to breakdown on the way home. Vr6 luck ghost strikes again.
Can't wait to see the results guys.

Will be arriving after 9am though and in my Galaxy, so leave the most secluded parking spot free to put her in and not spoil any pics.

Yup. Helen, Nat, Sal and Anna. More about but those four young ladies had very tidy mk3's and Anna had a tidy mk2.
They're very clued up on their VR6s and I'm sure they'd give any non F/I member on here, a run for their money on drag racing too.

Everytime I see a beetle or van driving along with a roof rack and impractical or empty suit case crap, I want to slap the driver.
I can't stand slammed lupos with 5 year old pimpled geeks in the drivers seat either. There are thousands of them in show and shine areas.
So you polish it, stick a cheap set of lowering springs with 2000 mile wide wheels that have a diameter of 2cm and think it looks impressive?. No. It doesn't. Me having the first morning wee and not hitting the seat is impressive.
Though I suppose if it makes the owner happy, then let it be.

You learn which family members to help out and which ones to "assist" with cash for parts before hand.
This is one of the reasons I steer clear of a lot of old friends and family. Something for nothing with a kick in the happy sack as a thank you.
