lol.. if its degassed it should be safe to take off.. Ive never had one off on a VR so its up to you to find out. Can't you just unbolt the fitting or it could be a push in and pull out to lock type fitting like on air breaks (trucks) If so push the pipe in and theres a little coller that you got to push in (I use 10mm spanner on the trucks) then the pipe will just pulls out? Can be realy award tho Good luck

Aleast you no that the water pump was working on the way home.. It could have over heated otherwise. surly the belts in a right state?
-
Sounds like thats the problem to me bud.. It should spin quite freely.. Once turned on there should be more resistence but shoud def turn by hand... Oh and the fact that there was loads of smoke was probaly the old belt getting worn though
-
Yep its the one named coolant pump but make sure all the rest spin freely.. apart from the crank lol

Does your water pump turn by hand?

LOL modded car are shit and kill the money.... Rebuild costs alot. 2nd hand box would be alot cheeper. Only time id get a gearbox rebuilt is if im having LSD or final drive 5th gear built into it.... Would love to do it myself tho... If you do rebuild yours do you fancy making a step by step thead on hear....

Ebay seems to be abit exspensive.. People try and sell them for £250 knowning that if somone needs a gearbox then there more than lighty going to buy it VW scrap yards are exspensive aswell... Cheepest place would be a general scrap yard as some of them tend not to know what some things are worth.. Gearbox is a gearbox £100 but you might spend some time looking for one As you can still drive yours you can spend alittle time looking around and also try knocking them down abit.. "theres one on ebay for £100 but i gota drive 40 miles to collect ect" Alot of them will drop there price but if

Got my box for £100 so it wasn't realy that exspencive.. Release bearing only realy makes a noise (when nackerd) when you rest your foot on the clutch or press it down. If it only happends in first gear then that means it not CV joint, diff bolt or release bearing.. Almost 100% 1st gear

You sure? There where two VR6 shells next to two surposed "VR6 gearboxs" Both vw. same cable gearchange same cups..splines ect. One had different speed sencer in a different place and a visably diferent diff casing and wouldn't fit (very anyouing)? Other fitted strate on no problems! Could have been from a different mk3 but i didnt see any others around.. I was surpriced that they would use 2 different boxs in a VR so i could be wrong If i was you just have a good look at your box before you pick one up (postion of speed sencers plugs ect) just to make sure.. Other thing is go to VW with y

I nealy like it.. I think id paint the side strips, skirts and splitter closs black to go with the fogs
-
yer sounds like there a tooth missing off 1st gear. Donno if all the boxs are the same.. I thought so but there where 2 VRs in this scrap yard i use.. Both where different and the one wouldn't fit. they both looked different tho so if it looks the same then you should be ok
-
Im guessing so.. Never done it myself but ive hurd people say they do it..
-
You should have know problems then.. Think you still need the clocks from the VR as the rev counter works different to a 4 pot.. Lucky ****** Ive got to change the pedal box in mine as it cable :-( . So it looks like all you need to do is bolt the engine box in and plug the engine wiring loom into the back of your fuse box. Plug your clocks in. plug ecu in and maybe change the key-barrel for the chip in the key to work with your ecu?? 16 valves are 5 stud anyway arn't they? So i recon you will do it in a good 8-10 hour day.. Maybe need to change the fuel pump?
-
lol. Liking the no number plate btw. I put a hammer thought mine and leave it in the window so it looks like it fell off . Police never have a problem with it round my end

exactly' date=' and seen as how the car is modded, it makes sense to me [/quote'] 2nd that.. once you've sent money on a car your going to loose it swaping cars... How long it takes depends on if you've done it before or know what your doing.. Ive done my brakes subframes and surpension on a 4 stud and was done in about 5 hours.. Getting the engine and box in ontop of that should take about 2-3 hours but then you've got the all the wiring, fues box and clocks ontop of that which probaly takes abit of time Oh and keep the 16v box to rob the final drive out of it.. Or aprently you can bolt

I like smooth and im going to smooth my handles but leave the strips. imo its one of the other. if i was to remove my strips id have some A6 handles on it. I think the strips help brake the car up abit and also carry the line on left from the bumpers + they protect the door for where you have to leave it in asda car park where no one gives a shit about leaning there doors on yours..

Help converting my 2.8 vr6 engine to a 2.8 vr6 4 motion
Phat VR6 replied to shawn25's topic in Engine Tuning
I think you would need to use the wiring loom, ECU, clocks keys, fuse box ect from the mk4. You might be able to run it off the mk3 VR looms and ecu but i donno to be honist Other thing you could do is use standalone ECU and leave the fuse box clock ect in from the VR but everythink I say is just a guess. it would be the same as doing a R32 convertion so your best bet is to find somone thats done it before -
So what would be the reason for 2 maps? And how you getting along with developing a RHD turbo kit?
-
ok thanks
-
So how does it add the extra fuel for the added boost? The MAF sences how much air going in and then tells the ecu to add fuel to suit?
-
If I where to go turbo is there anyway that i could run 10psi for daily use and then turn it up to say 20psi when I feel like it from inside the cab? Would it just be a case of turning up the boost or do you have to change the maps to suit.. Is this possible? Can it be done on a standard ecu or would you have to have 2 maps to swap from 10 to 20 psi. Cheers Tom

I have no idea. aparenty the noise is them wearing againt the rivits. If you leave it they will quiten down again after you've worn though the rivits and then you will be wearing against the metal of the base of the guide.. Its very rare for them to let go so just depends how long you wanna risk it for

Yer that sounds like your chains mate.. You sure you havent got any oil on your exhaust mainfold from where you toped the oil up Could also be your brakes?
-
Nah-im running 205's on my 8" rims and the stretch is minimal. Plus the 205 tyre is cheaper... you know what i mean. 215s are wider tho. think my goodyears where £60 each. Im from sutton mate. Go up hams now and again but havn't realy gone up the tracks.. Is it any good up there?
