  1. ^^^Its true it will never be great but there is a few things you can do but its vary expensive... Diesel 5th gear lowers motorway cruising rpm higher final drive? lpg gas conversion Remap for economy and make sure its not over fueling lol
  2. 270 unless it doesn't brake on the day :-p "begi fmu / red top injectors / c2 motorsports ecu" whats going on here then? your running begi and C2 map? is it a custom tune to work with redtops instead of the 440s? id say 380-410
  3. looking good kev Right stupid question time.. is he oil feed and return to the turbo just strate bits of pipe or is there regulator on the feed in to control the flow or the oil? will the standard airbox flow enough? and is there any reason why you can't or people don't make SRIs out of mild steel? and i wan't your garage lol keep up the good work...
  4. no where near 330kg for just the engine... i can just about lift one lol would say and at a total guess - 150kg maybe 200 i know the VR is 70kg heavier that the 16v if that helps
  5. no one will able to say for sure over here. could also try cleaning your throttle body with carb cleaner (try and sort the tick over out) Tell us how you get on
  6. Right cost me £346 all in... that's with a 5% discount. Girl that got me 15% off has been let go because of recession.. shafted but if you got a big order ask and they probably give you some discount
  7. totally understand mate and the other way of looking at is that your probably never going to want more than 450-500 anyway. so whats the point in R32 Its all to do with money and age. If you can afford to go all out then do it and you could push it hard if you wanted to. there must be hundreds of vrs out there with just head spacer and aprs and if you happy with 400bhp i can't see much point in going any further personally. and if it does go pop new engine off ebay for £200 and reuse your spacer and aprs... both ways you will learn your VR inside out. Its upto you tbf. how much power do
  8. yes bodge it is a nightmare and very expensive because i have to pay other people to do things! i need some lessons lol! the compressor outlet for oil?? :s i have just put a pic up of where i have seen oil leaking from going to clean the air filter asap aswel as it needs a clean' date=' any ideas of whats best to clean them with? i dont know anybody local who has vagcom and dont fancy paying hundreds for it as i dont have the spare cash at the mo due to holidays. What do you lot think it could be then with the info i have put so far? still not done everything [/quote'] No one can say for sur
  9. sounds like a air leak somewhere after the MAF to me mate. Had it a few time on N/A motors causing them to hunt Could also be MAF senser tbf i can imagine owning a VRT and not been a mechanic or self taught been a complete nightmare This is the way you will learn anyway have you checked the compressor outlet for oil yet?
  10. This is the way I wanna go with a manni. wanna try and get it as small as possible and just pointing down (rather than curling to come up top) So you can have the turbo tucked right down the back like the spa manni and use standard inlet Where to asking for the turbo to be mounted?
  11. Trying to sneak away from work some time this week. Just going to keep going in for quotes until I fall across the right person lol (unless anyone on here can get discount off VW and do me a big big favor lol) The £260 from America was from this place http://www.fourseasontuning.com/?mid=1 Ill tell you how much they cost me when i get to VW Kev cheers for that.. its just my luck
  12. disconnect coil pack, muti plug on top Some would also recommend unplugging fuel pump (under round black circular panel in boot) remove 3 screws. lift flap and remove plug (stops engine filling with fuel) Remove number one spark plug screw in gauge Turn engine over untill gauge stops going up Right down compression on bit of paper. Press button on side of compression tester to release pressure Unscrew and replace spark plug Remove number 2 spark plug and repeat above process untill you have done all 6 In the end you might have somthing like (1. 145) (2. 148) (3.143) (4. 98) (5. 144)
  13. ah nice one... uve just saved me some dollas I know a bird that works in the stores, She gives me 15% off but its luck if shes severing or not lol
  14. Its around 145-200 psi on a normal N/A motor (non turbo) But guess your running low compression so would be lower.. Just check that they are all close to each other. do the test and right them down on a bit of paper. if one or more are a lot lower than the others then you have a problem But as everyone said do a visual inspection on the coil pack first. all though there's a lot of stuff you can check before spending money
  15. sound cheers. as soon as i order from America the exchange rate is shit. Im ordering all OEM Full timing chains kit Main block gasket set and head gasket set All come to £275+ £60 import tax Come to around £340 all in You recon that's cheaper than going strate to VW?
  16. Seems like a random place to put it but i guess that most people that order parts from America are the tunning guys How much do they sting you? Thinking about ordering some parts from America that cost £270 if that makes a difference Cheers Tom
  17. im running c2 software so nothing cheap im getting the smoke on acceleration' date=' noticing it alot more when turbo kicks in (i think) [/quote'] If you take the pipe off the turbo outlet (one that goes to the intercooler and then TB/ engine) Is there any oil in there? could be oil blowing past the oil seals in the turbo. If it is rings then i would expect smoke to get worse on boost Do a compression test mate, easy job and the gauge cost around £20 from halfords Try and work out what colour smoke you've got. Check your not loosing coolant ... will help narrow it down a bit VAG.com it t
  18. what software are you running? Sound like the smoke is piston rings (on acceleration) although that would be Blue/ greyish
  19. right sound that block sorted absy did you use smooth hamerite on the gearbox?
  20. I want to paint my gearbox and engine black... what kind of paint am i using and where do i get it from Thanks Tom
