    MT-90

i was just reading a listing on ebay that sells mt-90 oil. he is saying its a low 70w at cold and an 80-85w at high temperature, with 85w being even stickier than 70w, if thats the case wouldnt the vw reccomended 80w90 be even better at cold then even better still if it goes up a grade when hot? i know that was gobbeldy-gook but im just trying to get my head round it, the listing on ebay was trying to sound clever when it didnt make sense and used wourds that aint even in the bloody dictionary
  2. but a carbonio one is money i cant afford, im afrain this car is on a very strict budget of as cheap as possible. was going to pop it where the carbon can is but dont wanna suck up water with the recent bad weather were having. hence i remembered the good old dayus of poking it out the side of thje wing on an r5 and thought oit might work on a mk3 as well as there is quite a big gap on thje inner wing. plus i wanna have that vr6 roar outside the car to scare children old people lol
  3. cheers i'll give the stealer a ring in the morn
  4. how much is synta silver and where can i get it from? is there a certain type i need? ie 10/30 or 0/30.
  5. how about the old bosch super 4's? are these any good? i've got iridium tipped plugs at the mo but dont think they are much cop
  6. get em. that aint a bad price for some vr6 cams. and from a name you can trust to be good quality as well
  7. guys i've been toying with the idea of moving the airfilter out of the engine bay, was thinking of putting in behind the lower bumper vent but the recent wet weather has changed my mind a bit on that, the other theory is to push it out the front wing by about an inch. will be using an open ended filter as apposed to one with a cap on it. and will be making a one off alloy inlet pipe to join it with the maf/throttle body. i know many of you will probably not like it but im just after a general view on the idea. i dont wanna get lynched when i finally get round to meeting a few of you at shows n
  8. guys ive got fuel leaking from the fuel lines where they attatch to the fuel rail. the part number seems to be 021133988h, this is written on the bottom hose but nothing is written on the top one, problem is vagcat dont list this part so i cant tell if its the same number for each one. either way does anyone know the bore size of the fuel line at this point? ive got some new high pressure 7mm fuel hose, can i just use this instead of having to pay stealer prices?
  9. sounds like they bojed the aux water pump. you should be ok for a short time but get a new one replaced asap as its used to keep the head cool. also if you got a 94 highline you should have a coil pack, look at the gearbox end at the top of the engine, you should have a rectangle box with 6 leads plugged into it.
  10. i dont normally like looking at exhaust's due to mine putting me off them but thats some nice work. i want one of them
  11. how hard is it to change the final drive and possibly 5th? i want quicker 0-60 but slightly lengthen 5th for motorway work since most of my car's time is spent at motorway speeds except when im chasing my mates r32

    MT-90

im going with mt-90 in a couple of weeks, will see how this goes before i do a final drive up-grade
  13. i had similar problem and the earth strap from under the thermostat housing had worked loose
  14. dont worry mate, mine sprung another leak, from the crack pipe o-ring this time i think, only bloody one the stealer didnt have in stock and only one not replaced. so another evening sorting that out again, grrrrrrrrrrr bloody car
  15. ive just noticed the throttle position sensor on the side of the throttle body has a screw missing. is it actually a tps or am i thinking obd2? and could it be coz this is loose its giving fake readings?
  16. i know i sound stupid but the peice i would need would be 2.25in internal id
  17. can anyone tell me the standard size of the exhaust on a vr6 in mm? i need the measurement to fit a peice over the end of the cat. cheers
  18. ive seen that exhaust mani on ebay for a big old price. but gotta admit thats a good bit of pipework
  19. the mother has one similar to that, its the plain white one, thats 3 sections long and one wide if that makes sense, i think its 24foot long and 8 foot wide. would probably need some new sides as the last party in it was a bit hectic but i can always ask what she's doing with it.
  20. yeah it is,but if its never been undone you may bugger the bottom allen bolt coz its awkward to get at. plus its best to swap em all out while your there anyway. it took me ages coz i kept pratting about and buggered the bottom bolt, but whole thing off then seals swaped and put on should take no more than a couple of hours. it sounds very daunting but it aint that bad
  21. i actually like that. its different. you dont see many mk3's other than standard or euro'd. and thats getting boring. or maybe its coz there is still some maxpower kicking around inside me lol
  22. look a little futher down this help page for my request, i swapped mine over last week, what i done was. remove the 3 hose's. unplug the sensors at the front. undo the coil pack and lift it out the way (unplug the feed and leave the leads on it and it will sit on top of the engine) then use a 5.5mm alen key or hex bit in a long reach socket and undo the 3 retaining bolts (u'll see why i said remove coil pack when u go for the top/back one) then wiggle and twist the whole housing whilst holding onto the crap, i mean crack pipe. dont pull it out the pump. once its off you'd be best to replace
  23. im gunna go with the check/top up on the gear box and chuck some slick 50 in it for now to see how it goes but im gunna save up for a box rebuild with g60 final drive. as for the vagcom the garages round here a a frigging joke with the prices they charge. gunna see if i can find someone with a fault finder for now and see what it throw's up. a mate's got an obd2 one and i can get a 2x2 adaptor from flea bay for a few quid. but he's in london and im in sunny portsmouth so getting the times a bit tricky lol. guess im stuck with a garage come to think of it. bang goes that new exhaust lol. does
  24. to bloody right bout being in croydon mate. was whole lot easier as i had a little shed for storage and a place i can put the car on stands for work but none of that down here. the box i fitted was second hand after blowing up the first one (it spat it internals all over the motorway), i thought the guy checked the oil level when he fitted it but since he never even plugged in the reverse lamp it wouldnt supprise me if he didnt lol, i was going to do an oil swap as well as i've heard mt90 fluid makes for a slightly smoother feel to the box
  25. how do i refill it? is it one of them awkward things that involve hosepipes and funnels and lots of blue language lol
