  1. been looking at 16's but there is more choice in 17's, plus i cant really find something i like in 16's. only borbet a in 7.5x16 with a nice stretched tyre but i cant afford them, was thinking of something along the lines of wheels tha look like my original bbs just a bit bigger and cleaner
  2. guys whats the best size rims to run on my vr, its been lowered on coily's somewhere between 60mm-80mm, can i go 7x16 195/45's 7.5x17 with 205/40's 7.5or8x18 with 205/40's all et35ish unless anyones got borbet a then im guessing it'l be around et15-20
  3. hopefully no rain tonight, but could be looking at some snow peoples,
  4. nah not rat just a ropey old bag of bolts lol, only had it a year and so far i changed the lights lowered it and done the exhaust, but its got the standard rims on it that are peeling like a white bloke after 2 weeks in the sun and a half finished wrong colour boot lid with a bloody great primer patch on it lol, like i said a bit ropey looking for now
  5. got a ropey vr to add to the collection at ed if thats ok, oh and a mate in a mk4 turbo if thats ok as well
  6. yes its an auto, i beleive its obd2, and possibly the same box as the highline golfs, just drove it again this morning so i can get a feel for it again and whats happening is, select drive about a second or 2 later it engages, then put your foot down and the revs build up to about 3-4k if pushing hard. then it bites drops down to 2k and pulls away, it only seems to do it on pull off and goes through the gears well once moving, engine and box feel good and strong. if you accelerate gently its fine with just a minor hesitation, i need to get this sorted as i cant afford another grand for someo
  7. ok so its a sharan but its essentially the same bus just re-badged, anyway got issues with pulling away the engine revs but it hesitates actually moving, its kind of like the engine is saying lets go and the gearbox is so stoned its taking a little while, then its like oh yeah ok lets get moving, once moving its got the balls to do some mile munching but the pulling away is getting bloody annoying, ive had the gear box re-built at a cost of a over a grand plus coil pack, plugs and leads to eliminate ignition issue's but now im stuck, any help would be great as i've only got till 8th jan to get

    rear engined?

right soon i'll have everything to vr my mk2, trouble is everyone and their granny has done a mk2vr6 and as much as ive always loved them and wanted one i wanted it to be different so wondered if its poss to rear engine rear wheel drive my mk2, what sort of headaches can i expect and does anyone know of one thats been done with an owner that can give me some advice, attacking the rear with a grinder doesnt faze me as mk2's are 2 a penny now. the car will be purely for the strip so creature comforts/abs/powersteering blah blah blah dont matter.
  9. this has probably been asked a million times but will a rado rear bench go in my 5 door mk3?
  10. guys i need an abs pump, i got cash n lots'a'lovin for a quick cheap part, CAN ANYBODY PLEASE HELP ME
  11. cheers guys, good to know you all approve, also vr mike can u send me a pic of that shiney cover over the mani in ur sig pls, been thinking of doing it out of finished ally but need an idea or where to bend it
  12. about 70% done me thinks, 1 flap wheel on a drill- 2hours to destroy, 2 wire wheels on a drill 2 hour to destroy, 5 grades of paper (3 sheets of each 120-240-400-600-800) 6 hours to destroy, just to get to this stage, im now on the 800-1200 grit stage and in total ive put about 10 hours into it, ive still got 3 more grades of paper then the electric polishing wheels and various grades of paste come out to play, in total i think 20 hours is a realistic target for final polish, then a lick of paint for the rest of it, big thanks to clarkie the mani was in good nick when i got it off him with no
  13. guys (and gals) got a grind feeling coming through my brake pedal, plus the brakes go rock solid, it still stops but really dont like it, when i press the pedal it brakes really hard at first then fades out, if i lift off then re-apply its ok, it only does it every 1 in 20 odd presses but the way i drive the car about (as a vr should be) i really cant be taking risks with the brakes, i checked the rear brakes as ive recently worked on those and found a nasty score in the new disk, i suspect was a stone that got picked up and wedged under the pad, (very agressive chamfer one the leading/trailin
  14. ouch thats low, gotta be loving it with them rims though, keep up the good work, lol, sod the rubbing just keep replacing the tyres when they are worn,
  15. hey guys didnt realise virtually everyone was going to be at e38 instead of vw action, where can i camp, my car aint no-where near sand worhy so not even gunna ask, but more than happy to squish my pop up tent in if there is space, ive never done a show/camp thing before so dont know what the hell im suposed to do, can i get saturday day\night camping and sunday tickes at the gate saturday, and is it ok for 2 tents 4 people?
  16. here's the linky to them on flea bay, the guy is only up the road from me and at the price i think they are reasonable. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220139328835&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:UK:11
  17. borbet a's all the way, drop the car nice and low over some slightly stretched tyres, 7.5x16 front and 9x16 rear, polish the dish's and colour code the centre's using flat caps, well thats my opinion if its worth anything to ya
  18. im sure this question has been asked a million times but i need to ask the general thought from every one, the wheels will have 205/45/17 to start with which i know will put the speedo out, but will get changed once ive saved for the make and size i want
  19. when will you be getting there mate? might come say hi to a local lad
  20. does anyone fancy taking a trip over to donny south this weekend (19th), its at north weald airfield, ive never been to it and beleive its a bit of a maxflower type event but might be some good stuff going on, im gunna be going with the misses and the rug rats. possibly a couple of us meet at say thurrock then convoy it out to the show,
  21. does anyone know where i can get an alloy inlet pipe that goes from the inlet mani to the maf then on to the filter? or would a carbonaro one be ok?
  22. camping? i aint got a tent, aint been camping in over 15 yrs, last time i stayed out in the open we built a bloody wigwam in shirley hills park in croydon, lol,
  23. i'll be there, but only if i can get my chain guides done first, been told its them making the funny noise, its a long way from sunny south london and im worried bout popping the engine, any idea's on locals to croydon? already spoke to vinesh @ eurotek but dare say he's gunna be a bit busy on the run up to the shows
  24. god i got goose bumps just writing all that, lol.
  25. i bought a cheap mk2 driver that started my vw love afair, then when i was looking for something a bit quicker for a transplant, i found myself pulled towards all the different vr powered cars in the vw mags, i turned the ignition on the one i have now and instantly fell in love with it, of course after the obvious first step of a filter as soon as it got home, and i mean literally went into the shed and pulled out an old one before i even went in for a cuppa, the noise it made when i opened it up got me well and truly stuck, even now everytime i floor it i turn into a gibbering idiot and cant
