  1. block the clear? i done the other way round, i blocked the black and fed the clear into the wing
  2. lamba is only 12 months old. but thinking along the lines of lambda could it be that my centre piep to cat connection is blowing slightly?? will this cause the lambda to miss read and cock things up? i did have a good butchers at the maf last week when i done plugs leads and checked for leaks and it looks ok to me. not gunked up or nothing. but i'll give the contact cleaner thing a go and see what happens. i also cleaned the cam senser whilst i was in there. but that was spotless anyway bar a few splashes of oil. does anyone know where i can get an obd1 fault code reader/wiper??? or a lead to
  3. done plugs and leads. and checked maf condition. but dunno how to clean it as its delicate and im club handed. lol. it pulls like a train when im driving and it out ran one of them sporty versions of the mazda 3's earlier. with not a sniff of any probs. but when it does stall RELAY 67 goes nuts. but i cant find what relay 67 is anywhere
  4. guys my car stalls at ramdon intervals. majority of time when cold but it also does it when warmed up. when it does do it it will drop to 200rpm then pick itself back up to 600rpm then runs fine a rew mins then repeats this over and over again, finally stalling fter about 5 mins, ive tried cleaning the t/band checked for air leaks post maf but now im lost. can some one please help.
  5. i would of thought the et35 would be ok on the front. but im with cabrio, pop in some 5mm spacers and that should sort things out.
  6. so does mine. but an early vr can pass the emmisions test without a cat, dunno how but a mate of mine had his de-catted and forgot to change it for the mot and it passed after being tested correctly
  7. at the prices at the moment try running tesco 99ron, all the time you can get it for less than a quid its well worth it. standard 95ron is perfectly fine for a vr6. using higher octane fuel on standard/lightly modded engines dont really give any gains, but does burn cleaner so is better, but for the forced boys id say 99 ron all the way, they will benefit from the extra points
  8. purchase an second hand one for a few quid and smash out the internals. when they look at it and it looks genuine hopefully thats enough. im sure they only test it for emmisions if its an old banger or smoking like a looney.
  9. mine does similar and stalls at random intervals yet i have no air leaks that i can find, only thing iffy is the throttle position sensor on side of tb only has one screw holding it in. (obd1 golf with rado tb) mat i wouldnt worry about the carbon can as ive removed mine and never had any issues all the time ive had it done, and many others here can probably report the same thing. so long as you block the black pipe off and feed the clear one into the inner wing to vent it you should have no worried with that
  10. please always use the correct vr6 removal tool. i pulled on the middle front lead to pop it off as all the others came off easily when i was using the lead removal tool and i pulled the lead out of the socket, and beleive me its not fun trying to get that bit off the plug strange thing is i didnt ecven realise that was actually the plug removal tool when i first got my vr, i though it was part of the bonnet prop lol
  11. wanted to do something other than that mate. he had me and a mate out of roughly the same amount each, and everytime it came out with a different prob, or the thing he fixed ballsed up after a month. propper shody work. ive learnt my lesson now though, the hard way. car cost me £1300, spent just over 2k in his garage. could of bought a mint highline for that money lol
  12. im guessing mine wont have it, its a basic 93 vr, and even at the slowest crawl just using the clutch no revs it'll spin on grass/mud and driving in snow can be forgotten all together as i found out monday, good job it broke down again then since i'd probably be writing this from the other side of the pearly gates by now with my lead right foot lol would it not be recognisable from one of the codes on the white label in the boot? mines got about 20 different option codes on it but buggered if i know what they mean except lc5p (dusky mauve pearl) lol
  13. mines similar, it just does nothing to the starter on the odd occasion, found it eventually was a dodgy plug that slips off every now and then and just needed a nudge back into place, i think it has a broken clip
  14. spadam, i go to gsf most of the time but dunno who tps are. vw mike: he never had that from me it was from a mate, i got a vr and he got a 1.8t. basically he kept trying different things to try and fix it. with none of em working, and my mate loved his car and just wanted it fixing, plus after a while he'd thrown so much money trying to do it it was a false economy not to try something else, if that makes sense. eventually my mate sold it for 3grand when it was worth well over 5 and had thousands of quids worth of new parts, and the bloke that fixed it had the car running while he was doing wa
  15. lol, well i had to replace plugs leads coilpack cat and lamba after a rather vigorous spot of chasing a jag up the motorway lol, but i bought the best i could afford at the time so to say i wernt happy to find 4 different types when i fitted my new ones would be an understatement lol. but ive just found a place that can supply denso supers at £18.36 for all 6 and as far as im concerned denso are a half decent set of plugs as well
  16. well he's actually from south london. he used to be partners with ruben at tuningwerkes, but they went their own ways and and he kept the name, but beleive me i found out the hard way that he dont know nothing do you know any good garages in pompey? my local is a bit slow and blamed a broken gearbox on the car being lowered 80mm+ on coilovers so not to sure bout trusting him either lol
  17. does anyone know any good suppliers and garages in or near portsmouth? ive got the usual gsf and euro car parts but dont know any decent garages for the bigger jobs
  18. AVOID EUROTEC, this is a garage where your car comes out worse than it went in and takes 4 times longer at double the price. and repeatedly tries to add on extra's. examples are: oil pressure warning on a 1.8t costing 2k plus. ended up being a know-nothing bloke and a 3 quid fuse holder from halfords fixing the problem coz the fans wernt kicking in due to a wiring short. yet he had it in his garage repeatedly trying different things and on one occasion left the car running all day and didnt spot the fans wernt working 4 months to arrange an entire engine swap obd1-obd2 with absolutly everythi
  19. the early obd1 coil pack engines used the same size tb as a rado, well its the same tb. if i remember right internal measurment was 74mm and obd2 was 64mm. try building a frankenstein one. or i think its a 5ltr yank one that fits, from a corvette or something, check the yank vr6 sites, they use bigger tb's from american cars
  20. folks ive changed the spark plugs on my car thinking my denso iridiums had seen better days, still using denso's but now supers. anyway i changed the plugs then unbolted the coilpack leaving everything plugged in and lifted it out the way, removed/cleaned and rplaced the cam sensor, replaced everything, double checked all the connection and fired her up and its running dog rough, like its only on 4 or 5 cylinders. as i said plugs are new, coil pack is less than a year old as are leads. when i remove lead 3 from coil pack its ever so slightly worse and the same with lead 1. but any of the other
  21. plus when it does stall i get a relay going nuts under the drivers side. ive pinpointed it to relay 67. whats this one for? as it aint listed in my little pocket mechanic book.
  22. isv and sound deadener checked and cleaned as were all hoses, throttle body stripped and cleaned, post maf hoses stripped/cleaned and checked for splits/leaks. pre maf got new alloy tubing and silicon connectors even a new filter (but that was for fun to move filter behind bumper) and everything got new clips. yet it still tries to die. majority of the time its when cold and occasionally when warm. this is doing my head in now. plus mot time is due at end of the month so im starting to panic now. im starting to think a w*nkered maf but surely that would cause even worse problems. lack of time
  23. blocked exhaust? can that happen? stick it on vag-com mate, for 60 odd quid you can find out exactly whats up without having to change everything first
  24. guys i know this is a stupid question but can you tell me how to top up/check the gear box oil level. i had a look at the box but cant figure it out. i need to check my oil level and wanna chuck in some molyslip coz its a bit noisey
