  1. When i have finished re-building my engine i plan to run the engine in, N/A before bolting on the turbo stuff. Will be ok to do this? Reason for doing this is that if re-install the motor with all the new kit on it and it doesn't start or run right, i figure i've got a load more variables to check.
  2. Looks good mate, feel any different to drive?
  3. Same as you mate. Done a bit of research, spoke to a couple of people, they have confirmed that it'll be fine to use a 2.8 gasket. Cheers for the help people!

  5. I'm also a guitarist, i love anything, from 20's Blues, rock, classical, funk to anything you would hear in a club. depends on the mood and place im in. I think you got to listen to all sorts to be a good musician. At the moment i'm listening to Black Stone Cherry, Jeff Beck, Audioslave, Frank Marino etc...couldn't list it all!

  7. Yeah im looking at getting a cooler too. At The Ring last year i was seeing temps of 130+, i reckon the oil was very thin at that point!
  8. Ok cheers for the help. Thought i might be able to use a standard one as its only a slight increase across the bore, obviously not! something else to find - loving this project though, just wish someone else was paying for it!!!
  9. Hi folks, I'm also doing a turbo project, just rebuilding the VR at the mo. i've now got a 3 ltr bottom end with low comp pistons, my question is: As the cylinder bores are now slightly larger in diameter, do i have to use a gasket with larger bores(specifically for a 3ltr) or can i use the standard one. Anyone suggest a company? Kev, i think you may be able to help with this one? Thanks!
  10. Thats bang on mate. i managed to overtake various expensive machinery which then got my ar5e kicked by a local in an 8v mk2, just couldn't keep up. The main thing to watch is some of the off-camber bends cos they'll upset the car real quick. I drove through Adeneux (not sure of spelling!) there is a VW garage should you need anything, worth brushing up on your german though: krackensplitzhenfukt...
  11. cheers for the info! i was a little confused when about the coding of the blowers "gt35XYZ etc", thats cleared that up. cheers for the offer, got a feeling i would spending the rest of the day with a silly grin on my face! :-d
  12. Yeah i don't think i'd get it any cheaper. don't think thats a bad price, just got to take the leap!! Cheers for the help!
  13. just found this: http://cheapturbo.stores.yahoo.net/gatu.html/link and more interestingly: http://cheapturbo.stores.yahoo.net/25pa.html Any thoughts on these?
  14. Awesome thread mate, glad its all worked out good for you. I've been following this closely as i'm about to go down the same route with mine. i can't wait to get the spanners out!
  15. I had the same problem recently and it was the thermostat as you said. Don't make the same mistake as i did though, change the housing for a new one whilst you're at it as well as they warp slightly. I had mine in bits about 3 times trying to stop it leaking, it cured it once i changed the housing. Sometimes you have to learn the hard way!!!!!
