i know theres no cambelt katie, but i knew that long before i bought a vr, just shows the knowledge of the mechanic that turned up, i should have heard some sort of noise if this was the case no? -
Hi guys, after my rolling road results, i was driving home real depressed, pondering my next move, then the car just turned off while driving, is turning over but not firing, a.a ( alcoholics anonymous i believe) twat turned up after 3 hours and said, its yer cambelt guv...obviously the first priority is to get this fault sorted, on the dash red oil light and battery light are on, oil light flashes when trying to start, wondering if anyone had any ideas? im probably gonno take it down to phirm im thinking...cheers guys n gals

common old black magic highline again im afraid..
-
cld me a multitude of things mate, get it on vagcom. a lot of work u can do ureself, obviously depends on your ability/confidence, if u cant pin point it, a lot of folk on here swear by the phirm or stealth, depending on which part of the country your in. im taking my car on the rolling road next weakend, after which i will do my rocker cover gasket, but its good to give u an actual figure as to what the car is performing like, ofcourse as long as it still driveable.

hes right, JT and jose are just media targets, if he did say it, it wouldnt have been missed by all the vultures that r the london media.

the golf vr6 is too heavy
vr6newcomer replied to matrix's topic in Wheels, Brakes, Suspension and Steering
i used many moons ago to own a cav gsi 16v 4x4, 150 bhp cossie top end apparently, it was mechanically mint, and that felt quick, so yes a corsa will feel quick, my father in law has a corsa, and geuss what, its shit, everything feels cheap and nasty, uncomfortable seats, unbalanced steering, crappy switches, etc, etc, etc. good luck to somebody if thats the path they choose to follow, but the car is in a completely different legue to the vr6. secondly ive only had my vr for a few months now. was considering changing upto a 4motion, until i went for a spin on my mates brothers supercharged vr -
Just in case you're ever tempted to take a shortcut
vr6newcomer replied to cadguy77's topic in General Chat
thats funny man, the bollards seem to come up so quick, but white van man deserves it. -
I have been doing little bits and bobs to my car for the last few months, and went out the other night (on a private stretch of road ofcourse) to c what my baby would get upto. not very impressive im afraid, from about 115, it felt like a honda acty, stopped at 125 up a not very steep incline, on the way back, downhill got to about 135, with possibly a bit more, but uhm, it was only a short road, so i was just wondering what a standard p plate obd 2 highline should do?

hi matey, i got one last month from a company in ockenden (essex), paid £100:00 all in including v.a.t, but i had to drill 2 of the holes myself to make the screws fit all the way through!!, p.m me if u like, ill slag them off a bit see if we can get u a bit of a discount!!

oil above spark plugs??
vr6newcomer replied to vr6newcomer's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
only 2 of the old plugs were if near perfect condition, it feels a bit better, i also put in a new coil pack, so if the spark is now better, will the car perform better straight away, as someone was telling me about 3 cold starts or something? is the rocker cover gasket difficult to replace? -
hi i changed my plugs today, 2 of the plugs at the front of the engine had oil around the outside when i removed them, the inside was fine, also does the ecu compensate for nre plugs instantly? looked thru bentley, possibly rocker cover gasket?

i used black metallic t-cut on mine when i got it last month, followed by t-cut color restorer in black, car looks a lot better now, just give it the t-cut once a year , or else u cld be doing more damage than good.
-
mines a 96 p plate, 89k on the clock. i wld avoid that one on ebay, its not a highline (unless he decided to replace the standard wooden gearknob with a non highline one..lol.. also just as my 2 pennies worth, but when buying, i allready factored in the extra cost of my suspension, alarm(as most standard ones are knackered) and a service as soon as u get it.

the u.k scoobys arent that quick, 200 brake ish standard, they obviously corner a lof flatter on standard setup, i just bought a vr instead of a scooby, and the main factor imo is that the vr is a lot better built, feels more solid, and is a lot more reliable for the money, nick ure a funny geeyzer, but i can see ure also very knowledgable, u have to appreciate that a company like subaru is very heavily engineering led in the methodology and approach to car building, but again like ureself, i want a car that i can drive and enjoy every day, without bits of trim falling off, squeeking interiors
