  1. At last some pics of my car. Still lots to do but I've made a start. From this..... to this, with the help of the G-Max suspension kit and a wash..... and finally to this Since the last pics, I've fitted my Miltek exhaust and had my rear badges nicked. Car is going in this week for a bit of arch work so more pics to come. Kevin
  2. Not a problem at all. Once its been prepared and sprayed properly mate the only person that will know it doesn't have an original panel is you.
  3. What an arse! I had a similar thing happen to my previous MK3. Something with a tow bar decided to leave an imprint in my front grill, bumper, front panel and headlight whilst I was away for the weekend. No details either :@ Don't know of any that far out but I'm in S london and know a couple of quality bodyshops in the area. PM me if you need details Kevin
  4. The wheels will fit no matter what mate. :-d Its the centre caps on the rears that will stick out or fall out if you don't give the bearing caps a tap. "If in doubt, give it a clout" I think the threads on the MK 2 are different so be careful not to knacker the threads on the hubs. Kevin
  5. Hello again Coilies tend to be a bit stiffer than shock/springs but definately won't give you the bouncy effect. They will drastically improve your ride and handling. Most makes have dampness and or height adjustment so you can alter it to suit. HAve a good look through the posts on here though before buying. Kevin
  6. Not sure about more solid ones but the standard VW ones should be fine. If its the fronts then the bearings sometimes collapes causing clonking. Kevin
  7. The joys of living in South london and not having a driveway i guess That sure is a good deal though!
  8. Get that camber checked mate. You could be eating through the inner edges and decent tyres aint cheap. If you got a good tyre shop near you they can always swap the fronts over on the rim (directional) so you get more from them. Just keep an eye on the wear tho Kevin
  9. Standard wheel bolts are fine just make sure you get some decent locking bolts. The VW "Spline" type that come with the car are crap imo. The guys at the tyre shop told me that he gets loads of people asking where they can get TT comps. quite sought after by the sounds of it If they are mirror polished thats not so bad m8. Mine are not but I prefer them a little less bling with a coat of laquer Also as a previous tread on here mentions, you will need to reshape the rear bearing cap as the Audi centre will not fit flush. Just give the cap a few taps with a hammer and the centre should ju
  10. Hi. I got mine without tyres from the Bay back in November, £200 but had to pick them up. They need a refurb as the outer edges are a bit scuffed but I couldn't wait any longer and fitted them soon after lowering the car. There are loads of posts on here regarding suspension. It all depends on whether you want adjustable height and damping, coilovers or spring/shock and also your budget. Check out some of my threads regarding the G-Max suspension kit. You may want to factor the price of rolling your arches into the equation if like me you get a bit of tyre rub, even though many have said t
  11. I saw a VR in the process of having this done the other day. They literally pull the arch out and panel beat it i believe, but in doing so the paint usually cracks. They are then filled and sanded down before painting. Job done! The car I saw was having 9.5's on the rear.
  12. :S Peter VR, Is it possible that there are different offsets for these rims as mine definately seem to sit further out in the arches (front and back) compared to the pics Ive seen of yours? Also do you have a lot of negative camber on the fronts? More than 1 degree maybe? :S Kevin
  13. Hi CC. Fitted my 17's a couple of weeks ago. They do rub a little bit but only when I have weight in the back or hit a serious bump. I'm running on TT Comps also with 205/40/17's but if the offset of your wheels is different i.e. the outer edge of the wheel sticks out further, then that could be why you are experiencing more rubbing. Mine does not sound quite as bad as yours but the fronts do rub a bit. I'm having my arches rolled soon to stop this, you may need to do the same. The fact that the ride is comfortable as opposed to eye ball shaking means that the springs allow the suspensi
  14. Glad I'm not the only one . Probably a bit heavier on that side rear :S I'm having mine rolled in a couple of weeks.
  15. G-Max also do a reasonably priced spring/shock kit for about £200. I'm more than happy with it on mine. Do a search for suspension on here. There's loads of good threads on the subject. You'll find all the advice you need there. Kevin
  16. I wouldnt mind so much if I'd got flashed in the VR but it was in my old Mk3 1.8 GL. 37mph in a 30 also cost me £60 and 3 points
  17. Same happened to me. Not sure if that bin it thing would have worked though. This was a forward facing camera which takes a beautiful shot of driver and passenger. The flash virtually blinded me and the missus but i thought it was for the car going in the opposite direction. Got the letter just inside the 14 day cut-off. Very pissed. :-( I thought that no matter what, if you are the registered owner you will get a letter asking whether you were driving or not. They usually see a failure to reply as an admission of guilt. Gits! Seeing as I got flashed from the front i didn't contest it
