  1. Does it say that you should be able to actually drive the car into the MOT centre without carving up the road after slamming your rado into the weeds ?
  2. /slap Why do you wanna swap to a 2.8 from a 2.9. Was it because you couldn't lose me up that hill ?
  3. I think I am coming Sunday with UKG Grant so my car can grace the stand.
  4. I was quoted £660 to have the fitted and remapped.
  5. Amazing what you can grow these days Might want to water him as he looks a little limp: )
  6. J Pug 205 Roland Garros N VW Golf MK3 Gti 8v +o( (doh !) P VR6 (Got it right this time)
  7. Those 30 minute drives that take 3 hours are great. Just try not to think how many icecreams you could of bought when you go to fill her back up
  8. Kev, so what you are saying is, if you took the head off, replaced the gasket and put it back on my compression would then be 10.5 ?
  9. Nice to see a Ford Granada came 2nd though
  10. I would go with Kaspersky if you wanna pay, has always performed the best of all the solutions. KASPERSKY REVIEW CNET Review If not then go to AVG and zonealarm imo. Though if you are running 64bit Vista then I think AVG is not compatible.
  11. The whole thing is a bit of a con imo anyway. So I have a VR6 that produces a nice amount of CO2. If I scrap it then CO2 will be produced in scrapping process and there will be shed loads more CO2 produced in the production of my replacement car, shipping it here, making it etc. The difference in CO2 of my new car and my VR6 will be so minimal that I will probably have to drive the new car for the next 100 years to save the amount of CO2 produced in the production of my new eco-car. That is my theory anyway, so I will keep the VR. When I turbo it then I guess I will produce more CO2 so I w
  12. I think 15psi should make around 350BHp ? I am about to (next monthish) get my engine rebuilt and am only planning 8Psi at first with a future goal of around 14Psi but am doing both the pistons and rods. For the extra cost of rods did not see the point in taking the risk. P.S. Eek, just noticed my memberships is up, better get on it.
  13. With the T60-1 being only oil cooled, is that a disadvantage over water and oilcooled turbos ? The oil cooled only do you just need to get an oil cooler and a turbo timer to protect the turbo more ?
  14. Kev what are doing to me? Just bought my pistons and thought I could manage without rods then you go and write that reply So before I die of heart failure at the cost this is stacking up to. Any other suprises I might need while I replace pistons and now rods ? Any bearings while I am at that might need uprating ? I don't think I am going to go above 14PSi, but you never know
  15. Cheers Kev, I think the turbo is the route I am now heading so I guess I will have another million questions to ask shortly I also think it will turn out cheaper than my Rotrex idea.
  16. An 8 PSi pulley will produce 8PSi at pretty much the rev limiter. A 14PSi pully would probably produce 8PSI around 4-5k RPM. So if this system was possible then you could have 8PSi of boost from 4-5K all the way to rev limiter using the 14PSi pully, giving you the desired power output (8PSi) for much longer. You could just run a 14PSi pulley and have the engine modified to take the extra boost I suppose that would be easier but that boost would only be achieved at close to the rev limiter. if you went to all that trouble of engine modification, then you could, in theory put on a 20PSi pul
  17. Thanks Kev, yeah I think I got what you said. But surely if the boost was all going to be wasted then the pressure would start to drop and valve would close and maintain it ? As a matter of interest, on peoples set ups. Where did say 6 PSi come in on 6, 8 10 and 12 PSi set ups ? If it is only say a few RPM then this whole idea may not be worth it. I did find this though Universal Blow of valve
  18. Thanks alot RCF will bear all that in mind when designing this. How about if the MAF was after wastegate and recirc then it could monitor the actual air entering the system ?
  19. How about a turbo wastegate valve ? Instead of controlling the boost by bleeding exhaust gases, it could bleed off the intake ? I assume that would mean I have a wastegate and a bypass recirc valve in the intake pipe ?
  20. Okay. From my understanding, if I get myself an 8PSi pulley then the charger will achieve this pretty much on the redline. So is this possible ? Running a smaller pulley say a 14 PSi pulley, dumping all boost above 8PSi to atmosphere or somwhere thus making the 8PSi lower down the rev range and holding it to the redline as shown in my rough drawings ?
  21. I hate this forum sometimes ( in a good way of course). Just when I have finally got my head around what I was going to do, which was going the Rotrex route, I read a post like this and am now erring towards a turbo again. I was literally going to order it end of this week now I will have to ponder some more. Suppose these discussions will help me in the long run pick the FI route that suites me best
  22. Both turbo and supercharger with require more fuel as they both force in more air. I would of thought that both are as economical as each other, maybe the turbo would be very slightly less as it does not exert a parasitic load on the engine. But then again, the supercharger does not add restriction to the exhaust gases. The choice of turbo or charger is preference I think. On the CAM front if you are heading down either FI route then the Schimmel 263 Cam would probably be a better option.
