  1. Quick hijack I guess but kinda on topic regarding manifolds as you will prolly be needing to get a RHD one... Found 2 RHD ones on ebay....£170 quid difference in price SPA turbo one £269 UK-Performance One £99 Anyone have any input as to whether the Uk-Performance one is any good ?
  2. Kev is just getting ready to fit this turbo me thinks ....
  3. How I understand it is, the reservoir just provides more water and hence would take longer for it to warm up, hence be more efficent for longer. If the pump is is 2 litres / minute the it would still work with 0.5l reservoir as all the pipework would already be full of water, so in theory you could get away without a reservoir and just circulate the water within the system. But this would obviously heat up quicker and reduce the efficiency. The size of the reservoir just adds to the total amount of water circulating around the system. More water = longer efficiency That is how I understand
  4. Yep if THIS info is correct then yeah 82mm A quick search on this forum suggests that too.
  5. Just a quick hijack of this post, but it is kinda relevant. As my head is coming off soon and I am going FI in the near future. If I fit a LC spacer gasket when the head comes off will there be an unbearable change in performance while I w8 to complete my FI project ?
  6. Sorry not supercharged so cannot help with that. I am just slowly adding (as money becomes available) parts to go down the turbo route.
  7. Okay, time to order the SP shortrunner intake but I have just noticed there are some additional parts that I might need as my car is OBDII. Could you please advise... List of Parts There is an Elbow adapter and an OBDII adapter ? Which do I need ? If I buy this (SP Intake and Elbow) and this (Fuel Reg Adaptor) I should be sorted ? And I assume I will need another OEM intake gasket ?
  8. Strictly dubs are selling SP Shortrunners complete with billet fuel rail and fuel pressure reg adaptors for £750. Needs an adapter for ODB2 though for another £90. Strictlydubs Direct from SPturbo (USA) £550 + £45 for the fuel reg. SPTURBO This is all I know atm about cost as these are the only ones I have looked at so far. Have been trying to individually price up the VR6 turbo kit that Strictlydubs are advertising on Edition38 as I think it could end up cheaper buying the lot from them.
  9. Excellent thx. Best get the credit card out
  10. Okay reading my last post it is a bit ambiguous. Will try again....... My Car NA VR6 185BHp, 0-60 fook knows 7.8 ? - using this to be like the supercharged car as is smooth delivery Wifes car 150BHp, 0-60 not sure but slower than mine - using this as the turbo car (as it has one) However, Wifes car (2.2D Jag Estate ...eek please don't kill me) feels quicker as when the turbo kicks it you feel a big change in acceleration. Does that help ? That is my reasoning behind the turbo imo feeling quicker.
  11. So, what needs to be done then to fit one ? Is is as straight forward as it looks ? I assume you will need a long accelerator cable, if so how long and where from ? Thanks
  12. I am gonna say turbo ! But I have no experience of a supercharged car so will briefly explain. AFAIK supercharger is a smoother delivery so is closer to the NA car just faster (eek hope that is accurate). Now my VR is NA atm and has 40 BHP and a faster 0-60 etc than my wifes turbo charged car. However, my wifes car does in fact feel quicker even though it isn't. Make sence ? Thought not
  13. Nah Devil nps there. I am pretty new to this forced induction malarky so every bit of info I can lay my hands on will help me decide what to do. Your angle helped alot.
  14. Lol thx Devildub_06. Funnily enough I was driving to work today think about the post I posted as I was worrying that I had posted a load of garbage that made no sence. While going over my reasoning etc I came to a similar conclusion. I thought that if the water in the chargecooler increased to slightly above ambient for example then it would then take a pre-rad 4 times the size of an intercooler to reduce the temperature down as quick as an intercooler. But even with that, heat would be stored quite well in the chargecoolers water tank whereas the intercooler can shed the stored heat alot
  15. Thanks for the replies everyone, I think if I ask enough questions I might get my head round which direction I wanna go Xyber, if I run a 10 PSi pulley with Rotrex or a 10Psi pulley VF why would the Rotrex need the compression lowering and not the VF ? Surely 10 PSi is 10 PSi irrespective of whether it is a Rotrex, VF or a man with incredible lungs blowing in the air ? And if someone could answer Bobtrude's question would be nice. I understand that water takes about 4 times the energy of air to warm up so in effect stays cooler longer etc but how effective is the pre-rad at cooling the wat
  16. Thx Xyber Will do. Was not planning on buying from TSR just interested in the option of a SMIC (stealthy) option. I like the idea of the Rotrex Charger actually as no sump drilling afaik and I am pretty sure I have not heard many kind words regarding the GIAC chip. But have not throw the idea of turboing just yet. Was planning on fitting the SP short runner in the meantime in preparation for either.
  17. Tsr are doing the VF Supercharger kit etc, but instead of water cooling their stage 3 has a SMIC with claimed 305 BHP ? Surely, if that is the same SMIC as the 1.8T then the pressure drop of approx 2psi will make the Stage 3 boost the same pressure as the stage 2 ? Or is the Stage 3 really 12Psi boost with 2Psi lost through the SMIC ? TSR Charger Kit Just asking because if the SMIC is that good might go the SMIC / Charger option as I don't like the idea of water cooling (would prolly run out of water etc knowing me) and chargecooling looks more complicated. An intercooler would be nice a
  18. So we are saying that a rising rate fuel pressure reg is not a necessity ? If so is the standard VR6 fuel pump with with a remap of OBDII sufficent when running 6psi ? Reason I ask is I just noticed that on the Storm webby, they have a rising rate pressure reg on their 6psi kit but not the 10 psi kit ??
  19. Okay as the subject, what do I need to buy and where is a good place to get it done, how long does it take etc ? I want to end up with a 3.68 FD and will probably have a rebuild at the same time. Maybe a LSD but that is obviously down to funds. Thanks in advance
  20. Forgive me if I am wrong, but when it comes to the MOT they will expect your car to have ABS. If it doesn't then will they not fail you as it is missing ?
  21. I have a Magnex exhaust on mine and I do not think it is anywhere near as noisy as the others available.
  22. As I am looking down the supercharger route now I just would like an answer to the following question that popped in my head this morning on the way to work... ...If you need to run in the supercharger for approx 500 miles before giving it some welly , how do the tuners sort out the mapping if they cannot rev the car through the complete range as it has not been run in. Or do you need to get it fitted, drive like my gran for 500 miles then go back for the remap ? Just a thought that is niggling my non-mechanical brain.
  23. Was searching for Rotex superchargers as I am planning on getting mine done and came across this old post. Surely, a rotex running 8-10PSi is gonna cause just as much strain on the engine as any of the other tried and test superchargers running 8-10 PSi. So why do people say that "if your running uprated internals and lower compression then the rotrex maybe the one to go for". Surely this will be needed on any FI system running that amount of boost ?
  24. Thx for the relpy, I was thinking of Co-ax speakers but thought I might be able to skip a sub in the boot with those speakers in the back. Having a dog is not a good combo with a sub in the boot as I found out with my multichanger...Cd changed, made a noise as it loaded the next CD, dog wondered what it was and crunch....you can imagine the rest
