  1. I havent got the part code sorry mate- i got mine from a VW breakers- I got quoted 27 quid for a pair of the top strips from Blade VW in Gloucester though. Binliner - i dont quite follow you there m8. I thought the highline came with the same side skirts as the normal VR6 and GTI. Maybe i just dont pay enough attention :-)
  2. Cool- let us know m8- that would be much easier!!!
  3. They are really nice- only thought they did them for the mk4!!! I agree with binliner- dont think they would look good on anything but a black VR.
  4. The top parts are clipped in to the bottom section and held at each end by rivetted caps. I had to replace the top parts on mine cos they started cracking due to rust..... I think the bottom parts are bolted on to the floorpan.
  5. Could imagine it being a bit of a nightmare to get at. ACF might know - he seems to have replaced nearly everything on his VR
  6. Clive ive got a standard chip....You can borrow for a while (if not for good!) just need to get my chip back in. Apparently early superchips were 22 pin whereas the later were piggybacked with 44 pin so the superchips guy tells me....the file is 128kb in size and if youve got a dodgy chip you can get another for next to nothing- 30 quid the guy would charge me if the chip was faulty. How did you unplug the loom from the ECU? funnily enough ive taken mine apart tonight and couldnt get the feckin plug out! All i needed to do to get the board out!!! Had to put it back together then as i didnt wan
  7. I can sense a world shortage of shifters on the horizon...Im very tempted cant he do this on an exchange basis? We pay for the part- and send ours back in return or something??? I really want one but that could be a problem
  8. i know m8- before i sold my last one i was getting a similar problem with the clutch pedal clicking and feeling notchy but had to sell it before i got it sorted. I really cant remember what i got told it was by the VW/Audi garage....sorry bud....
  9. Same here would love to but unfortunately my current bandwidth is limited to 56k from home!!!
  10. DOH! good point that m8- was thinking of my old 16v for some bizarre reason....not too sure of the hydraulic system on the VR6.... Havent had to do anything with the clutch on mine as yet....
  11. So that means the VR suffers from the same weaknesses as the 16v box- ie dodgy synchro in second?
  12. If the clicking noise is coming from the pedal box id say its the cable, however the clonking noise could be the release bearing or pressure plate in the clutch (which could mean a new clutch in the near future) Best to gt someone to depress the clutch while you have a look under the engine bay....
  13. Should always adjust to torque settings- although it can be judged by feel alone but be careful as over tightening will crush the bearing! Its hard to say how hard to tighten them without actually showing you ;-)
  14. Is the VR6 box completely different to the 16v unit?
  15. nah, I dont like em- never have - prefer to stick to standard or very subtle modifications. Im keen on the polo items as they are similar to the golfs but only ever so slightly nicer
  16. i dont mind what kit i get as long as its a short shift and doesnt make the throw feel like a bag of spanners.....
  17. I might be interested depending on cost......
  18. DOH! nice one m8- They are lovely rims- ive never seen them on another car.....
  19. Rich- post how you get on please How much did you pay for them? Thanks dubloke ill give mk3anni a shout. Tempted to get a set colour coded for my dub seeing as its going into the bodyshop (in the very near future:-))
  20. Yeah i made sure it was camber - mine is really bad- you can actualy see its out! They didnt seem worried about the lack of space under the arches either.... tel no is 01452 505588
