Yeah... grind the screw down, and then use them super sticky adhesive pads to put the new plates on with which also saves drilling holes into them. Job done.

At least you got that far, I can't get the rear screws to budge at all I reckon you just need to grind them down so they're flush being careful not to damage the bodywork.
  3. I think the later style door strips are £55 + VAT per side from VAG. £130 or so it'll cost.
  4. If so, if it ain't too much trouble, could you look up a part number for me? Need a part number for a driveshaft oil seal. Cheers.

    Bye bye VW

    Is that an automatic?

    Seen this!

The front wheel arches look ridiculous in comparison with the wheels. It looks like a homemade kit car version of a Dodge Viper using a Rover 400 as a base. I'd rather have my own car if I had the choice of the 2 at the same price I paid, let alone paying £90k for it.
  7. It was 1995. There's a set of 95- calipers on eBay at the moment.

Hmm, I'm gonna be £800 for my Highline with 4 years no claims, I turned 22 on Sunday.

Here's a picture of me posing with a lovely Nova just minutes before the owner arrived as I was laughing at the state of the interior. Oops.

The Sunny with the twin 5" exhausts and the urine yellow Saxo were both taken by me. Actually, I'm going to have a dig around for some more belters I've got. Watch this space....
  12. It's a pity Dastek seem good because I've got a Dastek approved dealer half a mile from my house. Unfortunately they're the worst cowboy outfit on the planet. They don't use flanges on their exhausts (Powerflow approved dealer too), they chop the downpipe in half and weld the front pipe onto it, they didn't even put sleeves on my mate's Corrado's system. And another guy got his Mk4 Golf 20v Turbo on their rollers, they helpfully advised him that he was losing boost at around 6500rpm (where the limiter kicks in) and they proceeded to kerb one of his alloys taking it out of the building. They we
  13. I'm upgrading my braking system at the end of the month once I get paid. I've already sourced dirt cheap Brembo cross drilled discs from the States front and rear and a set of stainless steel brake lines. Just been doing a bit of browsing online and look like I'm going to be paying around £100 for a front and rear set delivered to my door so want to make sure I get top quality ones. I've had bad experiences with EBC Green Stuff so i think I'll be avoiding the whole of EBC's product range. The Pagid fast road ones look good and in the same sort of price range are Ferodo Performance and Black Di
  14. Mine are totally seized and I can't get my old plate off to get my new German one on. I've tried soaking them in WD40, all sorts of screwdrivers, even taken the trim from inside the bootlid off and tried to prise off the bits on the inside of the tailgate and nothing. The only option seems to be to drill the heads off the screws to get the plate off then grind the rest of the screw so it's flush with the tailgate so I can get my new plate on with adhesive pads. Is there anything I've missed or an easier way of doing it?
  15. I've got a RamAir ProRam and was around £100, you're looking at around £175 for a BMC CDA one. Either of those seems to be the preferred options although i've heard good things about Carbonio ones.

    She's Back!

The Joymachine is in my possession now and I love it to bits.
  17. Can't go wrong with Bosch Super 4 plugs, they made all my Mk2's run a little better, don't know if they make any difference on a VR though.
  18. I'm getting a Supersprint system fitted this month and asked about a decat, the tuning company who's fitting and supplying it recommended not getting one as it doesn't improve the power in any way and is a hassle for MOT's. Straight through isn't the way forward either. Decent system, quality induction kit, give it a good service with quality spark plugs, etc, and she'll be running sweet as a nut and will be fine enough until you're ready to make bigger upgrades to a Schrick or a charger, etc. Engine wise, VW didn't do much wrong, so there's not much to change. in my opinion anyway.
  19. Hmm, after the experiences I've had with EBC and their Green Stuff pads, i'd rather run some GSF budget pads than put them anywhere near my calipers. And I know I'm not the only one too.
  20. Looking spanktastic. Is it possible to get the crystal indicators without the orange backing bit and one of those silver bulbs that flash orange instead? Can't seem to find them anywhere, would make your's look even better imo.
  21. Have you tried cleaning the idle stabilisation valve first? (Presuming VR's have one). I had the same problem on my last car, 3 clips to take the valve off, blasted it with WD40, and it idled fine.

    Corrado headlights

Thought about upgrading the wiring loom? I had this done on my Mk2 Valver and it made a huge improvement to the strength of the beam. I think there's a guide on Matey Matey on how to do it. Might save you a few bucks.
