  1. let us know how it goes cos i know bad fluid can cause brake fade and its possible its fading 1 brake more than another and making the car pull to side under braking.
  2. where you at mate .i in stoke and i know my local wheel shop keeps em because he was the 1 that told me that 3mm is all that is needed and he keeps them in stock. But any good wheel shop should be able to supply
  3. if you can get 3mm on the wheel still sits on the original hub so you can get away with universal ones but you need to put your 5mm on 1 of fronts quickly just to make sure you got enough room to put 3mm on.
  4. here as engine just been rebuilt theres no water loss is there cos if water is getting in oil will make it tap to.just a suggestion .
  5. they are nice strong engines as long as you aint thrashed it with it tappeting loud it should be ok but defo best idea to leave it to experts its probably just a faulty oil pump and tappets get noisy even if oil is low .i keep fingers crossed for ya.
  6. yes check oil but if levels are good id advise leaving car well alone until engine fitter can check it out it sounds like oil problem and if its not getting oil up the top properly it will kill your head .
  7. Im having same prob at mo have got all new suspension and brakes but i havent replaced brake fluid yet and mine is pretty grotty black colour so im gonna try bleeding em up next and see if this makes any difference was just wondering jusvr6 wot is your fluid like (brake fluid that is)he he
  8. he he i think me roofs untouched but as for the rest its had front and rear end damage (been jigged) and was extremely bad in every area except engine when i purchased it (got it cheap though)ive done loads in the 4-6 weeks ive had it and its different car already .oh and b4 any1 says it i know im mad but im happy he he he
  9. basically when all tightened up petes flap wont budge its stuck.
  10. officially if its there its got to work but it is ok to remove it totally.
  11. when i got my new wheels the bloke in shop told me they had had this prob with only a few vrs apparently some vrs have slightly bigger callipers than others so you are left with either the option ov spacers 3mm is all you should need or get the other type ov callipers or different wheels oh and them 16s i was selling was same hit callipers without spacers but me 17s go on sweet oh i have a set ov 5 mm spacers u can have if your local so you can try and see wot you think.
  12. well i dont reckon colour matters that much they all look great to me but if you must be picky its gotta be dusty mauve innit.
  13. jamex were lower eibach are 30mm drop.I think jamex say 35mm on them but not sure bout that but they defo sat a little lower than the eibachs
  14. basically to pass mot abs light needs to come on stay on few seconds then go out to pass mot well for our golfs anyway so if you really struggling just wire abs light up to a relay off the ignition this will give the desired affect as long as you have right type ov relay and wire up correctly i will try and get some more specifics over next couple ov weeks.now i still think best solution is to fix abs as brakes are important but its good way to get round mot if you are struggling. 8o)
  15. Get rear bush to slide in first then push front in they take some force but they will go then get them two bush bolts in then ball joint in its just a matter ov persistence and brute force really i also found it helped a little to stick pole in rear bush mounting area and open it just a fraction the bolt will pull it tight back on bush when you do it back up .
  16. I had jamex springs when i got me car they bounced me about everywhere and thats on brand new konis ,so i got eibach springs and ride is brilliant now.
  17. Yes the top plate is the only thing that differs and eibach do both early and late springs .they had both at awesome when i got mine and had spare topplates in aswell
  18. either remove sumpnut or take off and replace oil filter as filter holds about half litre.try to do wen cold cos hot oil dont feel to great he he he.
  19. yes too much oil can hurt cat mate.or so volkswagen says anyways.
  20. oh and smaller plates are used on later ones and larger are used for earlier i know this cos ive been through it all recently when i bought new springs .
  21. well thats mad cos all the other springs ive checked ie koni eibach and jamex list 2 springs 1 upto 1994 and the other 95 onwards as they changed the size ov the top spring plate at this time.
  22. you have bought the earlier springs mate take springs back and get later ones or buy earlier ie pre94 top spring plates.
  23. Theres actually 3 smaller ones i ended up undoing these because i didnt have a decent ball joint splitter and at the mo still have crappy old ball joints on but i am getting sorted soon i would advise that you get good ball joint splitter to do job and just undo the 1 ball joint nut as you really want to replace the ball joint aswell.
