  1. Buy the black leads and a can of red spray paint. Nobody will ever know.
  2. beru reds used to be £120 from vw and they also sell a chaeper black lead set at about £50 You could also consider magnecor or blue igniters, both top quality at about £80 a set.
  3. there are some nice pics on vwvortex too.
  4. I can't see the lightened pulley doing much in isolation (it isn't an underdrive pulley just a lightened one) but the lightened flywheel definitely makes a difference.
  5. how come? Too much boost, worn the engine out?
  6. It doesn't actually do very much unless combined with a lightened flywheel which makes the engine rev quicker, reduces drivetrain loss and therefore increases acceleration. Probably is worth doing if you are doing the flywheel as well but otherwise not worth it.
  7. There's a lot of info on the conversion here: www.futrellautowerks.com/projects/89clvr6.htm
  8. Just wait until you get that supercharger fitted. You'll be sending cars like that backwards all day long
  9. Not trying to put you off but every Audi I've ever driven has been so bland. They just don't seem to drive with any precision and the steering feels dead. I hope that performance Audis don't drive like that as I think you would be disappointed. They may be quick but are otherwise absolutely characterless. That's what makes the vr6 good; it has an engine full of character and drives with precision. Have you considered any other makes, maybe a Merc C43, BMW M3 or something by Porsche?
  10. Think the difference is in the dampers really. Have you got bilsteins/eibachs?
  11. The ZR 2 runs a maximum of 0.6 bar (8 psi) which gives 260-70 on a 2.9 and 250-60 on a 2.8.
  12. bilsteins are harsh. koni sport dampers and h@r springs are the best
  13. It actually looks like a ZR 1 charger which runs 0.4 bar boost so will make about 220-30 crank hp.
  14. yes. I think that the later ones had bolts and the early ones had nuts but I could be wrong.
  15. if its overfueling shouldn't it be black smoke? Or is it oil and petrol which cause the smoke? [ Edited Sun Aug 29 2004, 01:00AM ]
  16. Mine does that too (even with a brand new head on) It's because the engine breathes heavily and oil vapour is lost through the crankcase. Oil goes through the pcv valve into the intake and is burnt off leaving a trail of blue smoke (always down a hill and never under acceleration). I've disconnected the pcv valve so crankcase vapours don't go into the intake and it doesn't smoke now. I'm sure this is the cause of the problem. [ Edited Sat Aug 28 2004, 11:52PM ]
  17. the later ones did so they have a re-designed seal but are interchangeable.
  18. Its fairly straight forward. Might be easier to bolt the lower inlet on first (if the bolts are hard to get at)then the upper manifold with the TB already assembled. Shove bits of paper/ rags in the ports to the head and clean the surfaces which mate together with wet and dry sandpaper. Probably best to get new TB and inlet gaskets. You need the correct size allen key socket, wrench and torque wrench. [ Edited Sat Aug 28 2004, 06:15PM ]
  19. 15" were standard AFAIK and I'm sure they will fit under 15s
  20. What make of charger is it? Z-Eng or Vortech? If it's the Z it runs about 8 psi max.
