Typical low speed town driving produces 18-22 mpg. The 200 mile round trip to Stealth was just under 30 mpg as something like a 62mph average. (Big mistake stopping at the services to have a burger on the way home, the traffic was appalling when we left)
VR6's were specified to run better on Super unleaded petrol. I use Optimax, but give the others a go and see what you find best. As for oil, don't ask me, I am using far too much of it! :-(
We had a good afternoon. Just about thawed out now! :-) A lot of quailty cars present. Shame I did not get to chat to a few more of you, but there is always the next meet up. (I was the one in the rather loud orange fleece by the way) Well done Pete.
When I first got my car, I tried to insure it with Admiral, all was ok until I told them the car had an upper strut brace and they told me to go find another insurer there and then!
Bought some Bonrath ones @ GTi International last year. The quality is superb and (touch wood) no signs of corrosion at all. Well worth the £30 i paid. The bonnet sits fine and they are extremely strong. They were a bit awkward to fit as the screw thread for the wing fixing did not start off properly, as little filing later and job done.
Same problem with mine. The light comes on every now and again then not for weeks. It stores in the memory as a sporadic pump fault. ABS still works, keep my fingers crossed it lasts a good while longer.
