  1. my syncro is LHD but three door, u have to convert the drivetrain. Dutchdub gives some info on converting g60 as its got the wider transmission tunnel just needs some brackets. Its possible to fit haldex with a modified rear diff, but the wiring should be a good laugh! A lot of info on vwvortex, some at dutchdub and some on vwsyncro. Loads of reading and customisation.
  2. The fan cuts in earlier, and since your uprated thermostat works at lower temps its advisable to have one. I think on some cars you might have to make some modification to the plug to wire in properly as its a different shape on later vr's, but no biggy you can just use some car stereo "spades"(you crip a spade on the end of the wire, male at one end, female on the other, 4wires, your done), halfords do some. Hope im making sense..

  5. Mate at 6psi you really don't need a spacer, u make the car sluggish before 3-4k. Apparently u can run up 2 10.5 psi on standard engine before u need a spacer! Check the c2 motorsports site, as they do some kits as well as vf engineering. You got any pics?
  6. If u have done all the checks above you could get a Neuspeed VR6 160 Degree Thermostat and Neuspeed uprated 3 Pole Fan Switch. I fitted these to my vr, when i had similar overheating problems. Fitted time about 1 hour max. You don't even have to undo all the pipes. While u r at it i would check that you are'nt loosing any coolant from thermostat housing. These have a tendancy to break. You can get a one from ebay, cheap. Remember to properly flush your system and to put the replacement thermostat in the same possition as the one u took out.

  10. Not another one!! Very sorry to hear this news. My supercharged mulburry highline was stollen last year and i am still gutted! Im based in s.london. Did you have any non-standard parts people can look out for? An numbers of the engine and stuff would also help, u can find that in your log book. I will post this on my site also for wider coverage, if the admin don't mind?
  11. does the pump still work? Is there still a leak? If the plastic is just so that it mounts in a tidy fashion behind the engine, I wouldnt worry to much. If its the actual pump you have split in half then dont even think about resealing as you are only going to cause an engine meltdown and a huge bill sooner or later!
  12. tbh I doubt it will make any difference, but make sure the holes are before the filter and that you are getting cold air, and maybe fit an aftermarket panel filter which is a direct replacement.
  13. i had the same trouble on my vr6, changed fan and water thermostat with neuspeed items as they were quite cheap. The car ran sweet as a nut.. Be careful with the thermostat housing as these tend to crack or leak. Any signs of leakage then get a new one.. seen loads on ebay. Always be careful with low oil levels and also the headgasket when you have overheating problems.
  14. With the cost of the tie rod ends being so cheap id change both sides, both wishbone bushes and if still no joy, do the rack as well. £40 for a 2nd hand rack is a bargain btw.
  15. yeah i would have travelled to reliable source, but problem is that my car never came with the alarm fob, but had an immobiliser. then one day i disconnected the battery to reset ecu, and alarm and another immobiliser kicked in.. ahhh. so i called this guy who disabbled it, f*k knows how and then i went over that day to get alarm fitted as it would be sitting on the road disabled. bugger. Was about a year ago.. did hear alrm go off a number of times by the way.. before the other golf bashed it
